“It was awful”

As a five star, I would of expected the hotel staff to be alot more welcoming and helpful. There was a mix up at the end of our stay and we ended up having to re -pay again or we would not be allowed to leave because of there 'system'. The food was below average. The hotel consisted of german people, new born babys, and couples. Although as two young girls staying in spain we should of done our research on sa coma when we wanted a 'party place', if you are a couple/family with low expectations then i would suggest this hotel. Not somehwere I would ever go back to. As for sa coma, We were not impressed at all. Never again.

“A pleasant oasis in a slightly commercialised town.”

Very well kept and nicely designed hotel where all the bedrooms (with balconies or patios) face the central garden and swimming pool complex. Standard set up for the rooms, my wife thought the beds were too hard but I was OK with them, there are long very soft pillows on the beds and spare shorter and firmer ones in the cupboards, but they don't go together very well. Rooms maintained very well each day. All meals are buffets and the food is to a very good standard, the perennial problem that hotels don't understand that you need boiling water to make a decent cup of tea. Without exception the staff were helpful, friendly and prepared to go the extra mile to make sure you have a good stay. Overall I would be happy to recommend the hotel to anyone although during our stay it was populated predominantly by older couples from Germany.

Sa Coma itself comprises lots of hotels and all the shops and restaurants that go with it,, it was very busy over the August Bank Holiday when we went. Beach and cliff areas are lovely.

“A little slice of heaven”

We were searching for a last minute break and as it was our first holiday for three years we wanted something special. This hotel had a number of great write ups so we booked for a week but at the last moment saw a couple of poor reviews, Well, all i can say is you cannot please everybody, because we found a very clean and well run hotel. The maitr d was exceptional and made us feel welcome on every visit to the restaurant; the food was excellent with a new theme every night. Not the greatest for vegetarians though unless you eat fish. The staff were very helpful and for the most part get it right, although i wish i had expanded my Spanish or German. Previous reviews had been critical of the German monopoly of the hotel, there are alot of Germans but overall a good mix of nationalities, and those Germans who did speak were very friendly.
My 11 year old loved the pool and the beach. We found with visits to Marineland, Aqualand, Caves Del Drach via the Glass Bottom Boat, it was an active week. There's a great little gym in the hotel (free) and a tennis court opposite( extra). If you are English i don't recommend you book excursions with "World of Tui" rep at hotel although helpful we had a trip with only German being spoken. The Thomas Cook/Neckerman excursions availble in Sa Coma offered better value and were multi lingual. If we had any criticism it was for the Chamber maids not replacing correct number of towels and tumblers, and there are some minor cosmetic repairs that need to be attended to. Overall it was a wonderful stay at the Mallorca Palace thoroughly enjoyed by us all and we recommend fully.

We stayed at the Mallorca Palace between 2nd and 12th August. The hotel was very well kept and very clean.
The rooms were a good size, all with a pool view. Maid service daily.
The restaurant is buffet style but the food and choice was excellent.
Highly recommended.

“Not a 5 star, old fashioned 4 star”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

This is a dull, musty, old-fashioned 4 star hotel with limited amenities. Gym is in small basement room with basic equipment, but no treadmill which we were told was broken ... there was no suggestion it might be replaced. Golf shop locked up and looked deserted for some time. Beauty salon had only one member of staff available. Tired bedrooms. Musty corridors. Large interior bar was locked until 6pm ! Outside pool bar had lunch menu worthy of a greasy cafe. Very disappointing indeed.Must have got its 5 star rating a long time ago.
