“3rd time.. not so lucky”
This was our 3rd time in the last 4 years we have stayed at the hotel and was a little disappointed that this was not recognised by the owners. Last time we stayed we were greeted with a welcome back card in our room and a nice selection of fruit, a minor touch but this goes a long way when you spend hard earned money on your holdays. We stayed again in the top suites with its private sun lounge area above our room (419). Unfortunatly the rooms had not changed and the room was in need of a uplift, the bedding was drab and dated, and the towels although changed when you wanted these to were thread bear and need to be renewed, the sun bed lounger on the top deck was also badly stained and we had to ask for a sheet to be placed on top to hide the stains. The private deck also had a shower on a wall and was covered in black mould at the bottom and again a coat of paint would not go a miss. Our room had a fridge which the wife needs for her medication and this also was badly fitted and dirty inside, I actually dethawed it and gave it a clean.
The hotel cleaners were also very noisey in a morning and seemed keen to get the rooms cleaned as quick as they could. I noticed that the hotel had a new manager and he appeared more concerned on making the hotel look attractive to outsiders rather than looking after his paying customers. IMO the hotel needs a coat of paint, more modern bedding, and better quality towels for those paying executive prices for the better rooms like we did.
So thats the bad points and i feel if my points need to be raised after paying a lot of money for our 9 night stay. On the plus side our stay was most relaxing and the pool area was very good but still folk would rush down for sun beds when it was clearly notied you can not reserve beds with your own towels!!! A nice touch was the evening summer meal every wednesday on the pool area which again the staff went out of there way to make it very appealing and good value for money with the meal. Not to keen on been told were to sit, ie english on tables germans on other tables and french on other tables, the idea of a holiday IMO is to meet people form all over the world not just your own countrymen.
I have to confess the staff work extremely hard to please and are a credit to the hotel. The even came round with a frozen hand towel to cool you down when your on your sun lounges. So my question is will we be back.... not sure now unless the new manager comes up with a discount scheme for past clients. We did not get the wow factor like we did 3 years ago but maybe the owners will pick up on my comments. Would i pay the same again ..not at those prices,The hotel should look at a discount scheme or incentives for its loyal clients, Having had 3 visits and used the same flight company Monarch, Monarch have made me a exec club member for free and free access to exec lounges and free parking, Vanity Hotels treat me no differently just another paying customer.
Please dont let my comments put you off, if its your first time it will wow you like it did us 4 years ago.
