“i wish i could stay here every couple of months”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2009

I am a solo traveller and my reason for booking was to join friends who were staying across the road in the very large Club Mac complex.

I only booked the apartment one week before attending and only found this location a short time before i checked the ratings on Tripadvisor and all were favourable and far exceeded the negative reviews of the Club Mac across the road. I booked online and got five nights accommodation for 148 Euros. I thought this extremely cheap, aware that it was still just into off season. If this was a shared price amongst friends then it would be an absolute steal

STAFF are extremely friendly and work very hard Pete and Debs will help you out with anything during your stay.

ROOMS were surprisingly very clean and spacious, although there was only myself in the apartment it would easily have taken six on its variety of soft but firm beds. Theres plenty of equipment in the kitchen if you are cooking your own meals.

BAR excellent filling meals very reasonable as are the drinks.
there were no issues with noise from the bar or nearby bars or hotels.

LOCATION it is a little distance from the port but its an easy casual walk, or staff will call you a cab that is no more than 5 Euros for most nearby locations.

I welcome any questions you may have about these apartments.

Regards
Mike

these apartments are well worth going to!! I wouldnt listen to the complaints about nice we were directly above the bar in peak season and we always got our full nights sleep. On our arrival to the apartments we were slightly worried but we were soon happy as we were greeted by a lovely friendly receptionist. The rooms were nice and clean i cant fault them and the pool was clean and well looked after as well. The pool had a nice atmosphere around it everyone was relaxed and nobody interfeared with anyone else. The brilliant thing about the pool was that you could wake at around 11 o clock head down to the pool and still get as many sun-beds as you needed in a good sunny spot un-like some other apartments i stayed in. I had 2 teenage girls with me on holidays neither of them wanted to go on holidays with us but when we were going home both wanted to stay another 2 weeks! that will tell you how much they enjoyed it!!!

“Nice Place, Well Managed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2008

Stayed one week in Solecito in July and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are approx. 30-40 apartments altogether horse-shoed around the pool and bar/lounge area. Solecito is managed by an English couple who are polite and helpful. Apts. are situated about a 20min walk from both Alcudia Centre (beach/strip) and Alcudia Port (harbour/strip). HydroPark (water park) is a 3min. walk and is certainly worth a visit. Old Town is a short taxi trip away €5 (get there early).

We had a 2 bed apt. which was ideal for us (2+3) and included 2 bathrooms with showers, 2 balconies and lounge/diner. There are steps up to 2nd floor apts. so be aware if infirm or have very young ones.

Solecito had a good mix of Irish and Scandanavians for the week, mostly families. Friendly atmosphere prevailed and pool area was safe for kids as deep end was only 1.5m. and it had kids pool area also, (no Life Guard on duty, not sure it was needed anyway).

Lounge wasn't too busy at night and entertainment was provided on a couple of occasions. This ended at Midnight but drink was available after that if required. This ensured that those wishing to sleep were not kept awake by music/noise from bar.

The main problem in Alcudia is Mosquito's. Be prepared with deterrant spray, take out Air-Con (€40) and keep windows/doors closed. You should be able to keep nuisance to a minimum.

Walls are not soundproof so if you had a roudy shower next door they could cause you a problem, however with the place being mostly families this was OK for us.

Things to do in Alcudia are Hydropark, beach/port and take in entertainment at Viva Sunrise or Bellevue.

“Tranquil”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2008

My family and I stayed in these apartments for a week, first week in July. We had heard all the negs through the reviews, but we asked a few questions on the forum page and got many results. Our stay was very pleasent and very quiet. This would not be a part of the island if you were looking for a jam packed energy busting hol. The flight was short enough, only two hours and no ear aches with the kids. Upon arriving at the apartments we had to wait three hours before we could enter our apartment, as it was being cleaned, that was a bit of a downer, but we sat at the pool side enjoying the sun. The room was big, two bedrooms and a nice sized kitchen/sitting room. Cooking utensils basic, small fridge, two ring hob with extractor fan. Two bathrooms with what you need in them, but nothing plush (mind the water on the floor if you have a shower). Food was always available in the bar if you didnt want to cook, and at reasonable prices, drinks the same. Debs and Pete were always helpful no matter what the question was. Air conditioning in the rooms is a must , you can pay a small fee at the desk for it. The tv is no good as there are only three channels, skip it. Get the plug in mossie deterer for the room, it works, but keep your eye out for the devils as well. Put plenty of the spray on for night time as I saw some people eaten alive by them. We took the odourless garlic capsules before we went and while we were there, no bites for any of us five. The pool is a little small and people try to keep the loungers while they go off elsewhere, but i complained and a new rule was put in place. The inhouse entertainment was nil, but was available in other hotels, so seek and enjoy, no Kids Club either. The pool closed at eight so the noise went as well. There was no loud music or shouting at night, so all got a good night sleep. Everything is within a few minutes walk and Taxis are available on request at the desk(they only carry four people}. The sun was scorching, so keep plenty of cream on. The rooms were cleaned just two times in the week, which is not enough, as clean towels and toilet paper are needed every two days. The whole complex was very clean and any disturbance to the guests was kept to a minimum. We made some great friends during our stay and all the guests mixed very well. It is a place for familys and not the lively ones, they can stay in the south. All in all we had a great time, and thanks to all the staff for being so helpful to us. Shop around for the bargains, as some try to rip you off, and beware of the night time trinket sellers, but Debs or Pete will tell you who to buy off, if you wish to. Well, i would still be there if i could, but circumstances would not permit. If you go to these apartments, tell Pete that Mick is looking for a "Mug of coffee or a cup of tea" he will know what you mean. Enjoy your stay if you go.

“Fab Loved It - best hol ever”

We were the first to use our room for the 2007 season, would have thought it would have been a bit brighter, none the less the room was very clean any very large, the music from the bar may well need addressing as its the same stuff on a loop, but you do get used to it and afterall thats what you expect on holiday.

Thompson really let the apartments down, everything was geared around the mariners if we wanted to stay at the mariners we would have booked to stay there instead. Keith, Brian and Dot made everyone fel welcome, we would deffinatly go back here year after year only I believe its been done up for the Swedish People now :( as soon as I know these apartments are open for british customers again we will book.

Beach is a trek but jut get a cab - pool was great and bar served great food too breakfasts nice. Mariners food also really good and drinks seemed to be a bit cheaper here too.

Management made everyone feel so welcome - big up the Solecito!!
