Booked this last minute just for an autumn break. Good facilities, food better than expected, limited choice but excellent quality. Staff throughout the hotel superb - great service especially in the bar and restaurant. Pool area quiet with afternoon activities if you want tojoin in, no pressure if you don't. Evening entertainment varied, with nightly quiz and bingo. Rooms nice and clean, but like many continental hotels sound-proofing less than perfect! Overall good value for an AI adult-only hotel. Quiet area between Port d'Alcudia and Platja Muro but pleasant 40-45 minute walk along seafront to main shops and bars.

We had a great weeks holiday at the Platj D'or Hotel in Alcudia. The food was great with plenty of choice. The staff were so helpful especially Rapheal, the matre d. The rooms were very clean and well looked after. The pool area was very comfortable with enough sun loungers and tables and chairs to sit at. The entertainments staff, James and Jade were wonderful, entertaining us day and night and organising great artists, which was marvelous for two young people. Ben our rep, was so helpful and the trips out we took were value for money. And all the bar staff looked after us royally throughout our stay. Would I go again......yes. One negative, which has nothing to do with the Hotel, there are large amounts of mozzy's which come from a stagnant pool nearby. Plenty of mozzy cream should see them off.

We booked an 11 night stay at this hotel late in the season. It is adults only and all-inclusive
The flights and transfers all went by without incident.
We arrived at the hotel about 6pm and found our room to be small but quite well appointed. It was carpeted and clean. The room was kept clean all through our stay
The hotel is set out well, the grounds are quite flat with easy wheelchair access. Being so late in the season, the sun was quite low in the sky which meant that parts of the grounds were in shadow at different times of the day. The sunbeds seemed quite plentiful, although this might be different during high season. There was a practice there that guests would leave their inflatables for others after their departure. There was also a swap box in the Thomson reps area where guests would leave read magazines, leftover suncream, shower gel etc so that they could be recycled should anybody run out during their stay.
The reception staff were always pleasant and helpful.
The bar staff, particularly Paco, Pedro, David and Hector worked extremely hard and kept queues to a minimum. They were all cheerful, despite working long hours. The alcohol was strong and served in good measures
The restaurant staff worked hard, producing some delicious meals. Breakfasts were always very tasty which included sausages better than any I have ever had in a hotel abroad. There was always something good to eat at lunch and dinner. Having read in a previous review that they served some kind of steak pie 4 nights out of seven we were disappointed not to have been offered this even after our fourth evening. However, on the fifth night steak and guiness pie appeared…. But not for long! As soon as the tray was delivered the guests descended on it and it was gone in seconds. It was that good. Another evening steak and kidney pie was served with similar results. Sadly, we were only served steak pie twice in the eleven night stay. The waiting staff cleared the tables quickly, sometimes too quickly.
The entertainment team, Jade and James, kept the fun going throughout the day and evening, with games, quizzes etc. James is very entertaining and Jade doesn’t seem to realise just how good her voice is. Thanks guys for keeping us entertained. There were outside entertainers performing most evenings, including tributes to the Bee Gees, Drifters, Beatles, Rod Stewart and US/GB rock bands and a really good magic/illusionist show.
Clearly though, a holiday is only as good as the company you are in, the people you meet, the friends you make. We met some really wonderful people whilst we were away, including Fred, Chris, John, Eric, Doris, David, Jennifer, John, Bill, Sue and many more. We apologise to those we haven’t listed. Last but not least, a special mention to Brenda, Ronnie, Susie, Jimmy, Jean and ”Fritz”. All together now guys… “SEVEN!!!!” Thanks guys, you made it special.

If you're well into retirement, come from the south of england and enjoy conversing in Swahili you'll love the Platja.
If you like playing twenty questions, bingo, being entertained while drinking gallons of free alcohol, stuffing your face all day and not too bothered about cholesteraol levels, then I guess the Platja would be a good choice.
There is no gym, but don't let that put you off, the beach is just across the road so theres nothing stopping you hiring a bike and doing a full triathlon each day.
To be honest I didn't see too many "Iron Man" contenders at the Platja.
Adults only, hm! thats questionable, I saw quite a few kids in their seventies, but hey! thats a plus don't you think.
Seriously, I loved the place, I agree with all the positive reviews thats been written, they're all true, and I would definately recommend it to anyone providing you're not looking for too much excitement.


so if exercise is not your thing didn't see any possible contenders w the sea beach is just across the road for an early morning dip and you can run up theres nothing stopping you swimming thats no excuse for not exersising so keeping fit
