“Never again! never 4*”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

The look from outside and in the web seems good but.....
Dirty old bathrooms, dust also in the small bedroom, very small selection for dinner and also mostly cold food from the buffeetopening till the end, taste horrible or better expresion: the cook maybe don't find salt, pepper and "others"! Coice, faste and quality lower than you find in Egypt in a 3 hotel and vegeatbles always like mousse and more than overcooked, most times you don't find vegetables on the very small buffett
After 9 am the most off the "factory-rewarmed" bread was gone and not refilled, every day 1 coffee machine (the Saecco on the right) side was not workiung and the coeffee from the other machines was not "trinkable"!

“very friendly hotel relaxing at Christmas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Very friendly hotel, one of the oldest on the island, it was relaxed and informal. We stayed over the Christmas period and it was a good place to get away from the OTT xmas decorations which have been on display in England since August! The hotel put out their Christmas trees and fairy lights on the 24th December and organised a gala diner which was very good.

Food was varied, fish, salads and vegetarian options with meats which were mostly prepared for German guests. Glass of cava at breakfast, always a bonus plus the usual variety of hot and cold dishes available.

Lovely sea view from the room but chose a room on floor 3 or 4 if possible in the main hotel for the better views. Decor slightly old fashioned, lots of wood but fine and beds could be softer but I've known worse.

We would return to this hotel. It's worth doing car hire as transfers are expensive from Palma airport.

Room Tip: Chose a room in the main hotel for views on a higher floor ie level 3 or 4.

“Don't book the Felip, it's not 4 star!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

After 3 nights, we are checking out early. It is December, I dread to think what this hotel is like in the summer season. Focussed mainly for the German tourist, it is the noisiest, most horrible place I've ever stayed. What they don't tell you is that the hotel is over two buildings with a street inbetween, a difficult treck with cases - no, there's no help and no views if you're 'across the street'. Tiled floors ensure that it is impossible to sleep due to the constant moves of furniture - all night. Tissue paper walls ensure that every neighbourly 'noise', even a tap running next door are heard clearly. The breakfast is a pathetic, tired buffet which shows no thought or creativity. The lunch and evening meals are also buffets (which look like Iceland party food), they don't even have a restaurant. Didn't bother with the spa, I've heard it's rubbish too. Maybe it was purely our visit but the amount of loud, gobby people shouting and slamming doors all night, along with the gobby, shouting people outside; and the church clock chiming loudly, regularly, is enough to make us very tired and annoyed after 3 nights in this nasty, very un 4 star hotel. Portocristo is a dump, there's nothing to do, nowhere nice to go. We're moving to the Hipocampo in Cala Millor, already had a look - a million times better.

Room Tip: go somewhere else, don't book the Felip

“Don't go”

We stayed in the annexe of the hotel. Extremely disappointed, rooms very small, dark and cold with a horrible view to the back of the annexe. No entertainment at the hotel and staff not too friendly. Would not go back.

Room Tip: Make sure you stay in the hotel and not the annexe.

“Just loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

My friend and I stayed here for 5 nights. We loved every moment. The food was excellent, and hot.We usually do long haul holidays, Dubai, Barbados,USA, Thailand etc, but thought we'd have a quick, short break...it was a lovely, lovely hotel..please stay in the main hotel. Before we went we had read the reviews and checked our booking, found we were due to stay in the annex..so paid before we went to stay in the main hotel..this is only a few pounds more a night,,,so worth it. ALL the brits we spoke to, were placed in the annex..NONE were happy...The staff are so lovely and cannot do enough to make you happy..we wanted a couple more pillows, before we got to the lift ,the receptionist had called the housekeeper to arrange this, then the housekeeper called to check later, to ask was everything ok...I have to say it is a VERY, VERY quiet hotel..but so beautiful to sit outside, with fab views..Without a doubt I would go back...The staff work very hard and the area is beautiful...

Room Tip: Without a doubt book to stay in main hotel.Check you are NOT staying the in the Annex..
