“Why is this hotel still advertised?????!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

We booked a last minute holiday to the Estoril through Travel Republic on the Thursday leaving on the Sunday. We arrived at Palma airport and were told by Thompson (who we flew with) that they did not use this hotel and showed us to our transfer coach. The driver was extremely rude and unhelpful and did not make eye contact with us once. After a long coach journey we eventually got to the hotel which looked like something out of a horror film. As we got out we noticed that the gates were locked but ther was a light on round the corner. When we asked the driver where to go and said "it looks closed" he shrugged his shoulders and climed back on the coach then drove off. It turned out that the hotel Estoril has been closed for a year and was one of they worst hotels in Majorca. Porto Colom is dirty and the people are rude and unhelpful unless you speak spanish or german!

“22 years ago this was the hotel from hell”

I have read reviews for the past 22 years of this hotel after having had the nightmare of a holiday there when our daughters were tiny.
Never do I read a review that shows any improvement.

“BY FAR THE WORST HOTEL IN SPAIN!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

We arrived late at night and it looked a bit of a dump to be honest, we went in and the staff was really friendly, although the bar was closed he went and made us a drink, because we had travelled a long while. We were then taken to our rooms well, it was across the street to the hotel were our rooms was situated so we has to cross a road to get there which seemed a bit odd. We were situated on the top floor, all carrying over 20kg of lugage and was told the lift was out of order and to make it better there was no lights. once we reached our rooms they were very dirty, we put the fan on as it was quite warm and a layer of dust from the fan went all over the bed, we then went into the bathroom, when we went in the bathroom the toilet wouldn't flush, we went to the reception and they said they would sort it in the morining as it was late, back in the room, we thought we would get our clothes put away so we could go and soak up the sun the day after, we opened the wardrobe again another layer of dust on the shelves and cockroaches running about, so as you can imagin it didn't create a great first impression. The morining after we went to the reception to sort out the toilet we was told sobody would sort it during the day, we went by the pool awaiting dinner, and it seemed okay but the hotel is situated on a main street and seemed to have an odd sewer smell lingering around and also there seemed quite alot of wasps around, we then went for dinner and it was shocking all the food was either cold or inedable, every dinner and tea for the whole week i ate cheesy chips with ketchup, dinner and tea was the same every single day with not one new thing on the menu, the best bit of food there was the ice cream you could get from the bar so i hadn't been there 24 hours and wanted to go home, we thought we would go back to the room get ready and go out for a look about, about 20mins walk away is a lovely beach, which made things a little better. When we got back to the hotel we thought we would have a look at that loverly jacuzzi and sauna in the pictures in fact they are out of order, and had been for 6 months so still today i wouldn't count on it being open. We went back to the room after tea, and the toilet still hadn't been sorted so back down to recpetion it would now have to be the day after (to cut the story short it took 5 days before they came to fix it we only stayed 7days) on the second night we hardly had a wink of sleep with a crying noise and we just presumed it was a baby in a room nearby which didn't bother us to much as we understand that babies cry and its hard to stop them, however it wasn't a baby at all it seemed to get closer to the door, as we opened the door a black cat shot straight into the room and into the door leading to the balcony, as hilarious as it was a hotel should not allow cats to roam around it especially near peoples rooms. As the days went on the wasps and the smell seemed to get worse, you would sit around the pool and you couldn't have a drink without a wasp being in it, and then we found the culpret there was a wasps nest behind a bin we told the reception about this and they said they had known of this for some time but yet had not done anything about it, we was told the hotel was a 3* hotel in fact its a 2* but i think it's luck to have one you want my advice do not got here it is TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!

“We loved it and would like to go back.”

We didn't have the problems with water supply mentioned by the other reviews, nor the issues with sewage smells.

You get exactly what you pay for. Cheap and cheerful . Yes the rooms and facilities are basic but they were clean in our experience. The staff were lovely. Who on earth comes to Spain and expects all staff to speak English? Our eldest daughter loved asking for drinks in Spanish. The food was Spanish in style, edible and plentiful. The pool was clean, the sunbeds were ok and not all broken. The entertainment was fine, Sebastian - your are a legend. It was a bit hot when we were there not to have air conditioning but we managed absolutely fine. Porto Colom is lovely and quiet, the beach is gorgeous and the buses are regular to Drac, and Cala D'Or etc. Dead easy to get info from the tourist office. You simply get a cheap, good holiday and get well fed and plenty to drink in a lovely resort. What more can you ask????

“absalutely awful!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2009

well where should i start. firstly werent meant to go to this hotel the travel advisorer messed it up/ was promised it was a lovely hotel in a nice area. in the airport had to wait an hour to be collected then the driver decided to take his time. keepin in mind this was early hours of mornin. finally got goin and we got a tin of paint thrown on the windscreen of the bus. which then the driver had to was the bus. when we arrived about 40 minutes later the man on the desk couldnt understand english. couldnt find our names on the database so had to go there in the mornoin to get it sorted. managed to speak to a lady able to speak english and she said that we was meant to be there 2 days before. after all got sorted. room was awful. our view was a tree. was asked to move to a swimming pool view. they did indeed move us and it was a brick wall. dont take any notice of the photos the hotel have supplied/. there is no jacuzzi and gym. no entertainment aparts from one night of magic show but it was the bar man doin it. bar closes at 10 instead of 12 when there is a sign clear to see sayin closes at 12. for an all inclusive holiday you wouldnt expect to spend alot. wel try 800 euros that is because the food was rubbish. no entertiainment beer watered down .as a snack for the day time it was a tiny pot of ice cream that was all. but there was a nice beach over the hill. if you want to know anything more please feel free to write to me.
