“My favourite hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Have stayed at the Ola Vistamar several times now and I must say it is my favourite hotel.
Everything about the hotel is fantastic. The staff are so friendly and professional. The hotel is spotlessly clean at all times. The pool areas are lovely.
The food is superb with so much variety.
I am looking forward to the new Club Elite in 2012 and can't wait to return to the hotel.
I love Porto Colom, very peaceful and a superb beach at Cala Marcal. I love the port area with the old church and square.
Definitely my favourite place by a mile!

“Peace & Quite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Very good hotel in an excellente location if you want peace & quite. We stayed in a suite at the top of the hotel. The room & view were fantastic - only down side was not much sun on the balcony overlooking the harbour bay. Full sun though on the 2nd Balcony that overlooked the Tomir Bar at the back of the Hotel (very good for the cocktail of the day & very friendly owner).

Another problem is space in the dining room - not a problem for us, as like the Spanish we like to eat late. However, as mainly Germans in the hotel, if you want to eat early you'll have to queue to get in the dining room as soon as it opens, otherwise if you turn up 15 mins after opening you'll have to wait until a table is free.
Breakfast is outside & Evening meals are inside - food was very good and varied (probably due to the majority of guests being German).

Beach at Marcal is great - sandy & safe with pleny of bars. Not rowdy and lots of families -simply walk out of hotel upto 'Carrier de la Cala Marcal' turn left and follow the road past the Info bureau and a few shops - takes you right to the beach (about 10-15 minutes).

Porto Colom is ideal for those who want a relaxing time or a genuine Mallorcan experience as there is nothing for the Stag /Hen brigade. Plenty of walks and a stoll round the Harbour to the Church in the old town is very pleasant (right opposite the Hotel on the other side of the bay) If you are feeling energetic then continue past the Church and follow the bay right round to the Lighthouse. Take your swimming stuff as there is a nice beach at S'Arenal (not the one near the Airport) with a couple of bars - takes about 2 hrs.

Market is worth a look - check with Hotel but I think it's on a Tuedays morning. Also worth a go is a bus ride to Porto Christo (bus also stops at the Caves of Drach just outside Christo) and Cala D'or. Tip - Buses going either way stop at the same Bus Stop at Corso Square.

If you want a reasonable Supermarket then there is an Eroski (and another Spanish one just across the road - sorry can't remeber the name) at Commercial Gravina - Walk past Corso Square on the 'Ronda del Creuer Baleares' (road starts just outside where breakfast is held and goes right round the bay) until you get to 'Calle del Puerto de Palos' walk up here & the Eroski is on the left. You'll also find a good Ice Cream bar next to a typical good value working class Spanish bar as you walk round on the 'Ronda' - just near the fishing sheds. If you continue on the Ronda to the Marina proper you'll also find the up market reasturants & bars normally found in most Mallorcan ports for the yachting crowd.

If you want to improve your Spanish then the Hotel offers free Spanish lessions on most days - As mine is very basic it really helped that the teacher and the rest of the students were very friendly and patient.

Both pools are across quiet roads - main pool is right opposite main entrance and has a bar and more facilities - Pool where Breakfast is taken is much quiter and alway has plenty of beds, so the choice is yours.

Will definetely come back.

Room Tip: Go as high as possbile and avoid rooms that overlook the bar court yard as the Germans like to sit o...

“Don't go the last week it is open... but great else”

We went there in October... and the hotel was spotlessly clean, with excellent multilingual staff and a superb pool and pool bar.
However first night we got there was the last night of entertainment for the season! Argh!

Apart from that - great food and friendly staff - great location, slap bang between the beach at Cala D'Or and Porto Colom town.

Porto Colom itself is a mix... gorgeous bay and marina - but there is no real town centre; very little night life (this is a working town and not a resort) - and many unfinished buildings (looks like recession hit the building works in the area). The beach at Cala D'Or is superb, but there is little to do apart from bars and the hotel.

“50th Birthday Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

We just recently returned from Ola El Vistamar Hotel in Porto Colom, Majorca which is a 4* Hotel. We were pleasantly surprised as it was a lovely hotel. The main areas were very clean, nicely furnished, the staff very helpful and friendly. The weather was good as we went on 15th October to the 19th October and it was pleasant weather between 24-30 every day. It was a very relaxing and quiet part of Majorca with a beautiful harbour lined with fishing boats and yachts and lots of little cafe's within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel had two main pools, one of them literally across a small side road as you come out of the hotel. The main pool was tranquil and lovely with a bar area in the centre with lots of good quality sun beds and umbrellas and shaded areas with canopys. Just beside the pool area down some stairs is a spa, sauna, indoor pool for use of guests in hotel. You can book at reception for sauna approximately 6 euros. I had a relaxing massage with Selina and it was good value for money at 39 euros. There is a price list for the beauty treatments and you can use your hotel key card to access the areas and use the pool and small indoor gym. You have to book at reception. We went half board which was breakfast and evening meal and it was a really good selection of food, good quality, excellent service and all the areas in the hotel and dining room were of a good standard. We would definitely say 4*+. Occasionally if you arrived at 7 for dinner you might have to wait to be seated but dinner was 7-9.30 which was excellent and breakfast 8-10.30 and breakfast also had excellent selection of food. In all very pleased as was very good quality for money. At the side of the dining room down some stairs was the second pool which was very quiet and had beautiful views of the harbour. There is a nice beach within walking distance about 10-15 minutes, also cafe's and local shops (although not many local shops) walking around we did find a few shops selling a variety of goods as well as the usual beach and tourist items. Pubs, bars, restaurants all within walking distance but as it was October we went they were getting ready to close and some had already closed. We did not hire a car but found getting around on foot easy as where we stayed is a quiet area and very relaxing. We walked to the bus stop which takes you to lots of places all over Majorca. We went in to Cal a Dor for a few hours which cost 2 euros each way each person. Lots of shops and restaurants a much busier area. You can get a bus timetable at reception in the hotel. Our room was pleasant with a nice en-suite and lovely balcony and views over the sea and surrounding area. Maids cleaned rooms every day and towels changed every couple/three days. Everything was clean and organised and the staff both in the hotel and dining room were very professional and helpful. The food half board we had was all buffet style, help yourself, have as much or as little as you want. Next year this hotel is going to be ADULTS ONLY. There were one or two children there when we went. Overall a 4*+ relaxing quiet pleasant holiday and would definitely go again. We had a great time and totally relaxing and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: We was on the 6th Floor to the back of the hotel. It seemed very quiet.

“Beautiful Hotel”

Beautiful Hotel in a very quiet location. Very friendly staff but little to do either in the hotel itself or in the surrounding area. Lovely room with a sitting-room and bed-room. Our only complaint was the food in the evening, varied and well served but cold! Loved the whole area.

Room Tip: Choose a room on an upper floor and not in the annex.
