we stayed here for a week with my 9 year old son. We arrived at 11pm and were checked into wrong apartment! As i opened the door someone shouted, it was already occupied! Not a great start. We finally got an empty one and it was fine. Lovely big balcony over looking the square which was the main hub of the town. Unfortunately we shared the apartment with lots of ants, which is probably due to the fact the apartment is only cleaned twice in a week, and beds not changed at all. We were on a half board basis. Breakfast was normal european standard, but evening meal was horrendous, it was buffet and if you're veggie like me,then be prepared to live on salad & chips for the week! The hotel is also predominantly occupied by Germans, and everything at the hotel is geared towards them, including the kids club and you get the feeling that you are invading their territory! Pool was the saving grace, my son loved it. If you are looking for a lively holiday then Porto Colom is not for you. We don't really go in for lively, so a stroll along the lovely harbour after dinner and a stop off at the gelataria on the way back, suited us! The little square also had a little market twice and a couple of other nights of entertainment which we used to watch from our balcony. When on the beach we saw lots of other english people, so who knows where they were staying, but I would probably investigate where!!!
Room Tip: if you must stay here, then one overlooking the square!
