“Don't stay here if you want a nice vacation”

I have never checked out of a hotel before staying a night. The last thing my wife and I wanted to do was to search out another hotel while already in Spain but we walked around the resort for a half hour and made the decision to leave. We really felt that we were back in 1980 with how the hotel looked. It was obvious when we told the person at the front desk that we were leaving that this happens a lot. We felt very uncomfortable there and the room was like a slum. We aren't snobs at all and were not looking for the Ritz but wow... if you are looking for a nice vacation spot in Majorca, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. No offense to the people who liked this place but there are plenty of nicer hotels to stay at.

“Ideal location”

Ideal location, right on beach, lots of bars/restaurants, lots of Germans! Hotel a bit tired, large room, bathroom like sauna as no air extractor! Staff polite & friendly. Food mediocre - used restaurant twice in evening, but soon decided to give it a miss - reminded us of school dinners! Would go to this resort again but not to this Hotel - however its location takes some beating!

“Location and money- perfect!!!”

On the beach and few metres from shops. Nice beach promenade. Furniture dated. Food average (best on Thursdays- Spanish evening). Occupied by retired Germans mostly (90%), so no animation (loud) at all!!!
We went all inclusive from the beginning- at the hotel the cost is 18 euros per person per day. Kids pool a bit too deep- 60 cm. No English channels on TV except Eurosport.
Unfriendly staff unfortunatelly. Rooms very small.

“Good value but in dire need of some upgrading”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2010

This is the fourth time to the Beverly Playa. It’s two years since I last went and unfortunately it’s gone downhill somewhat. One German regular who has spent the last 10 winters there said that the hotel had been sold and the new owners were planning to refurbish the hotel. The main complaint she said was the quality of the food, both hubby and I had already felt that the food was poorly cooked and lacked variety. Apparently there is a new chef with whom our German confidante was less than impressed! She also bemoaned the lack of entertainment in the evening (now only on two nights a week).

The rooms used to be heated by a radiator but now the air conditioning system, sited just under the ceiling at one side of the room, can be altered to give air conditioning or hot air linked to a thermostat. As our balcony door didn’t fit properly the cold air stayed at the bottom of the room and the hot air remained at ceiling height making the bed level quite chilly. We were cold enough to request an extra blanket each.

Having said all this the hotel is in an excellent position with most of the rooms having superb views. Given the price we paid for 3 nights half board we couldn’t really complain. The guests are mainly German with a very small minority of English so you may find that the staff don’t speak much English. I would still go back there mainly for the price and location. I’m not sure that I would overwinter there given the lack of entertainment and quality of food.

“You get what you pay for!”

Although the hotel is 30 some years old and it's decor seems to have stayed that way, the place is very clean. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful. We heard that it has just been sold and that the new owners plan to put some money into renovating it. The location is perfect - easy to find and the beach front access couldn't be better. We had a room on the 7th floor looking out to the beach - the sunsets were incredible. We left our balcony door open at night and were lulled asleep by the waves lapping against the shore. The food was average. There were a lot of choices of what to eat, hot or cold and plenty of fruits and vegetables as well. Can't say that any of the food was outstanding, but we didn't expect that for the amount of money that we paid. The pool area was great - not nearly as 'old' as the rest of the place. The pool bar staff were great fun and made the evenings enjoyable. Would we stay here again next time? Sure - why not - we only ate and slept in the hotel and for the money we paid - it was just fine. We spent our days out exploring the island - so if you are looking for a place to hang out the entire day - best look elsewhere. If you're looking for a clean place to lay your head at night and eat a few meals as well - this is a good choice.
