My husband and I have just spent a week at the Palmanova Palace, 11 - 18th October, and I really would not recommend this hotel. It is by no means 4 star and certainly no palace!
After reading reviews on lack of security and breakins, we invested in a safe upon check-in..
24 euros for one week (Wow!) plus a 5 euro returnable deposit!
We decided it would be worth it for peace of mind..until, we got to the room to find that the safe didn't have a door!! It did get sorted, but, what a joke!
We also noticed that the door and balcony locks were very loose and looked to have been tampered with.
The staff were mostly very friendly, especially Bernie the very happy go lucky barman..despite working long hours he always had a cheery wave and a smile.
The restaurant didn't have any atmosphere, it resembles a school canteen, a bossy little head waiter instructed people to wait at the door until he invited them in and frog-marched them to a table, he was maybe just being efficient, but looked quite comical nevertheless!
The food was better some days than others, but in fairness there was a huge selection to cater for all tastes.
Rooms basic, but clean and towels changed whenever requested.
The pool area is small and cramped, I cant imagine what it would be like in busy summer months. The pool is allegedly freezing, though I did'nt try it myself.
It is also shaded and doesnt get much sun.
The entertainment is pretty poor, same quizes and bingo every day and night (the bingo halted on our last night until further notice, apparently due to not being licensed!).
There were 2 shows in the whole week, and as mentioned in a previous review, they should be auditioned first!
Tanya (resident entertainer) does try hard but resources appear limited. Ben, her colleague doesnt appear as dedicated though.
The one plus side of this hotel is the location, just a five minute stroll to the beautiful clean beach and marina, which is really pretty and lovely.
Overall i would say this is okay as a base, if you dont plan spend a lot of time in the hotel and like to go out exploring.
Majorca i would certainly visit again - just not to this hotel..
Oh and yes,, it definitley does cater for 'older' clientele - i reckon 65+ years...no disrespect to the elderly but worth bearing in mind.
.
Room Tip: Pool view rooms are quieter, Try and avoid front facing rooms which overlook a busy road.
