“IF YOU'RE FRENCH. OK. IF BYOU'RE BRITISH FORGET IT”
I stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and it was fantastic, so I booked hol again in Jan 2010 to stay in September. Around April time I received notification from Travel Republic that it had been taken over by a French company and I could change my holiday if I wished. As I had no ill feelings towards them I left it as it was.
On arrival the reception was very good and everything appeared as it was last time.
The evening meal however was not. The food was catered for the French guests only unless you wanted chicken nuggets, burgers and chips.
After the evening meal we retired to the entertainment bar.The entire entertainment was spoken in only French for the full 10 days and British guests were ignored.
At breakfast there was no sausage, bacon, eggs or beans, but pastries, cakes, cheese and ham.
After 2 days of this we complained to the manageress, who to be fair did finally give us a wristband to eat at the run down sister hotel The Barracuda where they catered for English diners.
We found the French guests. particularly the younger ones to be very rude. They ignored you, pushed in at the bars and looked at you as if you had no right to be there.
This was made earier for them by the fact that the French had silver wristbands and every other nationality had blue ones.
The police were called in one night to take away a French woman who had gone up to an Englishmans face and told him to F... O.. you English B...... you are not wanted here,
and credit to the man he sat there and didnt rise to the bait.
Most of the British guests who arrived at the Marina Pax were told that they had to stay next door at the sister hotel The Barracuda, and being British most did as they were told, but those who stood their ground stayed where they had paid to stay.
The Barracuda is full of younger people and seems to cater more for stag and hen groups. The hotel is very run down compared with the Marina Pax and if you have paid for the Marina Pax then demand that you stay there.
At the Marina Pax you are allowed to each have 2 drinks at a time from the bar where at the Barracuda you can only have 1. This means if you are with a partner you can only get 1 drink then have to queue up again to get tour partner one. Also there is limited seating and not a lot of room at the poolside bar, where as at the Marina Pax there is plenty of room.
Needless to say I will not be making a 3rd visit.
