“Would come again - just not the same hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Myself and a group of 4 other girls (aged 18) stayed in this hotel for a week last July.
The location was great, right in the centre of the nightlife, and only a two minute walk to the beach, couldnt really ask for better. However the hotel itself wasnt great. This was a dissapointment as First Choice had sold us this hotel under the impression it a was a 3 star hotel, and although I knew it wasnt going to be luxury, i had expected a little more.

Firstly, THIS IS NOT A FAMILY FRIENDLY HOTEL. If you are looking to come on holiday in july/august to magaluf it is only to be expected to be full of rowdy teenagers. Its how the hotel staff and managment's way of handeling this stituation was beyond unbelieveable. Every single night there were people shouting and screaming right through until 7am, blaring music through the corridors, people banging on our door, ringing our rooms phone, one time a couple were having a blazing row outside our room, god knows what he was doing to her but she was screaming and sounded like she was being beaten up. I like to have a laugh, but this was unacceptable behaviour. On the third night of this happening, I rang hotel reception and informed them of what was going on. They then sent up a couple of security guards, who chucked them out of the hotel immeadiatley.

Secondly the staff. Where do they find these people? Possibly the rudest people ive ever met in my life! One time I was walking through the door to the hotel bar, and one of the bar staff decided she wasnt going to let me pass first and walked straight into me shouting abuse in spanish, and then hissed at me. lovely! The security staff were vile animals. Their way of handling rowdy teenagers were to beat the **** out of them and send them packing. They specially target young boys, and it seemed if they set one foot out of line they would be next up for a beating. For instance on our last night we had made friends with a group of lads, and as it was their last night decided to go a bit crazy and flipped a few mattresses around the room(which was unacceptable). But security came into their room and gave each of them a beating (one boys nose looked as if it was broken and there was blood everywhere) They then had their passports taken off them and werent even aloud to pack up their own stuff. To get their pasports back to travel home that day, they each had to pay the hotel 200 euros each. Surely this is illegal?
Also one night whilst we were getting ready to go out, some boys from the room next door had come in to have a drink before going out (this was only about 9pm) and security had come up and demanded the boys leave our room. It was like staying in a prison or on school camp.

I would definatly reccomend paying for the safe as I wouldnt trust the staff here one bit, although sometimes that might not even work as on our first day, a group of blokes were at reception claiming their safe had been opened and all their money and passports had been taken. The only advice the receptionist could give was the location of the emergency passport centre.

Overall, we didnt let this spoil out time here as we had an amazing week! nightlife was incredible and beach was beautiful! Food was average, wasnt really expecting anything more and cleanliness was OK.

But i wouldnt reccommend this hotel to anyone!

“Lovely Hotel & Great Location”

Hotel is in a great location and is very clean. Food can be very repetitive but there is a lot of food on choice and something for everyone. I travelled within a group of 4 girls within the range of 18-24 and had a great time. This hotel is one of the quieter hotels in Magalluf and it is very lively. There are a few families at this hotel but mainly full of 18-30. People moaning about noise, well! Its pretty pointless going Magalluf if you do not want no noise its a place to PARTYYYY & we all had a brilliant time, althought we did not have no trouble with noise in the hotel during night, etc. I would recommend this hotel and Magalluf. I recommend!

“Great hotel for the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We booked a last min deal late august with holiday hypermarket/thomsons, they booked us into the " family friendly" fresh sahara.....
we are aged 40 with 2 children aged 14 & 11, I came home read the reviews & cried.
The following day I went back to cancel the holiday but was told I would have to pay full price as it was only a week to our travel dates. I said I was promised that you couldn't book into the sahara without children & that was a lie. to cut a long story short, We were offered Sol magaluf as an alternative, I'm so glad we decided to go. It's a great hotel the rooms are basic but have everything you need including TV, nice big wardrobe, a soap/shower cream dispenser by the sink & in the shower,we had balcony with table & chairs overlooking the stage area of our hotel & facing the famous BCM which I thought was going to be a problem noise wise but the double glazing did it's job.
The maids were very friendly & said OLA all the time. we had fresh towels every other day and clean bedding twice during our 2 week stay
This hotel is next to everything, Katmandu ( the upside down house) bit expensive but good.
loads & loads of bars with lookalike singers inc: elvis (very funny), westlife, kylie, take that. lady gaga etc, live music & a couple of children friendly bars.10 mins stroll from palma nova or 5 min if you cut through the park. numerous disco's/nightclubs, reastaurants/ snack bars...I have to recommend rockahunny's across from the officers with a great 1 euro beer & snack menu inc saus & mash, chilli, bacon bagette & chicken wraps and very very helpful hosts.
The security guards in sol magaluff are tough on the gobby rude/drunk people(they are not all teenagers) who think they have the right to ruin everyone elses holiday. we only saw 1 incident in the 2 wks we were there( it was quite violent, although the 2 men did ask for it).Cath is great & sorts out potencial trouble makers before they have chance to cause bother.which is good because the thomson rep was useless and really should be with the party people over at the jungla/tropicana or sahara.
The food here is fantastic with a beautiful salad area with fresh prawns, ham, cheese etc. then there was always at least 4 different choices of meat plus two sorts of fish, rice and veg plus chips pizza, burger, chicken nuggets etc every night and the deserts were superb, there was always 2 types of gateau, 2 hot puddings, custard, jelly, and choc mousse, cheese n crackers & cake every night yum.
In the mornings they had everything from cereal to herrings.bacon eggs black pud beans saus fried/boiled and scrambled eggs, mushrooms, hash browns the lot....excellent
All in all Magaluff is a lively place and there are a lot of party goers, we were out till 12 & 1am most nights with the kids but any later and the drug taking animals and huge gangs are out roaming round untill about 7am, most looking for trouble or sex or both and the lasses were worse than the lads!!!!

“Cathy the hotel manager needs the sack!”

Hotel in great place however the management let this hotel down. 5 of us all 21 year old lads went staying there played some music on the balcony on 2nd nignt had a few beers and game of cards like you do not being too loud as unlike most idiots our age do, we had respect, the next morning we get called down to reception to be greeted by the hotel manager cathy who gave us our final warning and spoke to us like we were school kids, she was extremley rude very unprofessional and thinks she is something shes not absolute joke of a manager, purely because of her i would not reccomend this hotel. You will have to tip toe around your rooms, finally if managment do read this i would just like to say cathy you are a disgrace and an absolute joke of a manager and the most rudest person i have ever come across, dont go here!!!!!!!!!!

“Great budget holiday”

We stayed in this hotel for a last minute deal, we had great fun here, the only downside is that the silly 18 year olds ran across the pool on lilos so the pool is closed off at six o'clock but apart from that it was really good, we all agree that the food was amazing full british brekkie int mornin. Other people are complaining about the security on here but if u get on the good side of them then they wont brutally attack you with batons or anything.
