“Basic charm”

We had already stayed in a couple of very good hotels when we arrived at Villa Verde for 3 nights, so it was a bit of a shock to get used to sleeping on beds that were not as comfortable as we had been used to. But having said that the hotel does offer value for money in Deia, and wonderful views. We had a terrace with I would say was a must. as is the walk down to the cala for the freshest sardines we ever had in the restaurant on the right.

“So Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

Deia is a hidden gem destination. I am even reluctant to review anything about it. It seems like no one knows about this area, there were no advertisements for Diea as a vacation spot. This hotel is in the heart of Deia near the church. It's a small town so everything is walking distance. Many hiking trails and great area for cyclists. Olive and Almond trees are everywhere and they are terraced up the sides of the hills that enclose the village. Across the street is a large resort like hotel that we enjoyed coffee and desert at. The breakfast at this hotel is minimal but adequate. The rooms had a very genuine spanish home feel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was kind. We were by far younger than the majority of the travelers to the area but it never bothered us. There is a restaurant at the beach cove overlooking the ocean and the fish is caught fresh daily. One of the most amazing dining experiences of my lifetime. There is a best time of year to go, last week in September or first in october, many of the places closes in the area after the tourist season. American Tourists do not exist here, mostly german, swedish, and british. We will be back here for our 20 year anniversary. It was our favorite place in Mallorca for sure, don't bother with Palma, it's gross.

“Rustic Charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

After spending the previous three days in a Marriott Golf Resort near Palma, the rustic charm, spectacular views and warmth of Deia and in particular the Hostal Villa Verde were a wonderful change. We had read some negative reports on Trip Advisor and so were a little trepidacious but we were soon caught up in the atmosphere of this enchanting hotel and town. Yes, it is not five star luxury and the breakfasts could do with some imagination but if you want that in Deia, La Residencia will be delighted to charge you three times the cost of a room in Villa Verde. From the Trip Advisor reviews we chose room no. 21 which had a private terrace looking over the valley. A little more expensive but worth the extra. Deia village is traditional and has many good , some expensive and very good, restaurants but if you are looking for value visit the Village Cafe run by Victoria and her husband, the eccentric Christian.

“Superb location and views, superb value, a perfect Deia experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

The Hostel is probably the best located accommodation in Deia, just down from the Church and with fantastic views. The owners have retained an old fashioned Spanish feel to the lovely buildings and the whole place is charming. The rooms are indeed simple, but in a traditional way, with little private terraces to some. Breakfast is served on individual trays of bread, juice, yoghurt and eating it on the main terrace is delightful (and if breakfast is too plain for you just pop down to the local deli and add some bits). The point of the Hostel Villa Verde is that it is half the price of anywhere else, has the best location, fantastic views, and is a perfect base for exploring Deia and its excellent restaurants. E80 for a double room with shower and terrace and wine at E6 a bottle in this stunning spot gets my vote every time. The next nearest rate is almost double that - so save the E80 and use it to dine at 'Sebastians' in the village, another amazing gem!!

“DISGUSTING!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

Absolutely awful hotel (if you can even call it that!). The only thing going for it was the views! The rooms are terrible, small and dark with what can only be described as basic furniture. The beds were hard as were the pillows and I couldn't wait to leave the hotel. The breakfasts were disgusting - you help yourself to a "Tray" of food which was prepared the night before and consisted of a bit of bread, some butter, a "basic" Carrefour yoghurt and some juice which was sour and off.

I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!
