“Lemar Apartments - Great location - value for money - room for improvement”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

I just spent 15 days at Lemar Apartment with very mixed feelings, but you have to remember that this is Spain and things run a little bit slower. This is my second stay at Lemar - the first time 3 years ago we actually stayed at the Lemar Hotel. We had one of the front rooms with a balcony overlooking the esplanade. Fantastic location, reasonably clean, but the mattress and pillows were like sleeping on concrete. So this holiday we decided to stay at the Lemar Apartments. We were given apartment 2 for the first night. First impressions was that it was very dark and very hot with no air-con. Thank god on talking to reception the next morning we were moved to apartment number 6. This apartment had amazing views over the bay and if you opened up the doors and windows you had a great air flow all day and night (very important as non of these apartments have air-con). The apartment is very basically furnished which is typical for Spain. Consisted of two bedrooms one with bunk beds, small bathroom that was in need of a little attention, small basic kitchen, about a 4m X 4m living area with sofa and small table with chairs which leads out to a balcony. The mattress was far better than those at the Lemar Hotel and I actually slept reasonably well. At night it can get a little noisy with traffic, people and surrounding apartments. We booked half board so all meals you had a 5 minute walk along the esplanade to the Hotel Lemar. Meals at Lemar were great with plenty of choice - my only complaint being a lot of the hot dishes came out cold. The common areas at Lemar were very spacious and clean and in the evenings and night its very pleasant sitting out the front on the esplanade having a cocktail. Reception, bar staff, restaurant staff, cleaners were all helpful and attentive. My biggest complaint with Lemar is the internet connection. They offer WiFi for 20 euros a week which is very reasonable - if it actually works. More often than not you couldn't connect and when you could it kept dropping out. The hotel did provide me with a refund for the 2nd week of my stay and were more than aware of the problems and I believe they are looking for a new internet provider. If you are looking at staying at Lemar than I would definitely recommend the apartments, but only numbers 3,4,6 and 7 as they have fantastic views and great air flow.

Room Tip: Request apartment numbers 3,4,6 or 7 only

“Great Place and would go back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2011

We have just returned from a week at the Lemar Hotel. This hotel is right opposite the beach in a fantastic location. Rooms are standard but the rooms overlooking the sea have a nice large balcony to sit out on in the evening. We were on a B&B basis and there was more than enough food and choice each morning and stocks were replenished all the time. We did have a meal one evening at the hotel and this also was very good value for money and lots of choice - I have put on weight with all the lovely puddings! There are two rooms for breakfast and evening meal and both are very nice. The bar area is very spacious the the waiters are very attentive. The hotel is also very clean. The only downside I could moan about is the air con was not that good but there were ceiling fans so it wasn't that bad. We were also put up in an apartment on our first night as our room was not ready and it was fabulous really spacious with big veranda and was not a problem to us at all more a bonus if anything. Would definitely go back there and Colonia is beautiful and very quiet and relaxing which is just what we wanted.

“An Excellent Choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2009

One is always doubtful about what is to be expected of Package Hotels, especially after seeing the various reviews in the internet. Well, I was very pleased with this hotel and I thoroughly recommend it to everyone.

I travelled with my partner and her mother and we aimed to have a nice and relaxing sunny holiday by the beach. I have high expectations being from the industry and I was pleased with our experience. We got a beautiful sea/harbour view room with Breakfast & Dinner inclusive for a good rate. The staff were very friendly and helpful; I was amazed to hear more German than Spanish but... I was warned :)

Food wise, it was good. I expected better but I have too high expectations since I work in the industry. Good variety and nice for most of the times. We had the odd occasion where they were low on some breakfast dishes but hey... They were running like hell, I give them credit :) They always had space and we were never udner pressure. Of course, if you decide to play with hours and appear just before closing time, you are asking to be frowned upon.

Be careful when shopping as most local shops have ridiculous pricing especially for sun cream. Walk around and see the scenery, it's beautiful. Temperatures around 30-34 degrees celcius, environment very dry at this time of the year. Not many top restaurants around though, it's mostly al-fresco style and baguette around there. For those party people, this will not be your thing. This is a relaxing location for those who enjoy peace and tranquility. You have been warned :)

Overall, it's a great choice. The accommodation is good and clean. The food is nothing to complain about, the pricing is correct and the location is absolutely prime (i.e. 40m from the beach). Hire a car for 2-3 days and you can go visit the coast for some other spots and you got yourself a nice holiday. Bon voyage!

“Great Hotel for couples or families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2008

My wife and I have stayed in this hotel 3 times in 3 years, usually for a week or more. We go back because it is a freindly hotel in a great location (40m from the beach) and we can park our car by the harbour, just across the palm tree lined avenue between town and sea.
The rooms we have stayed in have had plenty of space with a desk, chairs and a tv and all with a balcony. Rooms at the rear of the building catch the evening sun - great to relax with an aperitif before going out for dinner. A room on the front will have a good sized balcony which overlooks the harbour and the beach.

Throughout the hotel the staff are friendly and helpful . We are now welcomed back by the manageress Catalina as well as the dining-room staff.

There are 4 or 5 good restaurants within a hundred metres of the hotel or you can eat at the hotel in the evening. We usually book half board and check the dinner menu each day. If it is offering something we are not keen on, we go to a local restaurant. The hotel dinners can be very good, but as good majority of the clientele are German there can sometimes be an emphasis on northern european dishes. The breakfast buffet is good and offers a good variety of fruit, cereals, yoghurts, cold meats, eggs and hot food, as well as bread, toast and preserves.

As well as the German tourists who we always found to be friendly and polite the Spanish also seem to favour this hotel, whereas we Brits are fairly uncommon in this part of Mallorca. There is a great atmosphere in the hotel bar with plenty of comfortable chairs and tables inside or on the terrace. Thursday night is dancing night in the bar and here the Germans really show off their skills in the waltz and polka.

Motor boats and sailing dinghys can be hired in one corner of the beach. The area is roped off from the main swimming beach which is soft sand and ideal for children.

In short, if you are looking for a reasonable hotel, with a good breakfast in a good location away from the hurly burly of discos and raucous bars, then this could be the place for you.

  • Liked — The ambience in the hotel.
  • Disliked — Mosquitos can be a problem if the weather encourages them breeding.
