“We struck gold!”

We booked this hotel and flights separately, after staying in majorca last year.We arranged our own transfer from the airport with balearic transfer, approx £75 round trip.We were collected in a brand new people carrier and driven straight to the hotel. We arrived about 1am in the morning and were greeted by the night receptionist who spoke better german than english. However we got by and discovered that a meal had been saved for us in the dining room, and we all had a welcome drink on the house.
We were really impressed with the cleanliness and size of the apartments.Bathroom was large with bidet and a vanity unit with a hairdryer and a decent shower over the bath.Kitchenette had fridge and two hobs to cook on. The lounge had two large sofa beds which the kids slept on.Our balcony overlooked the pool, and was big enough for the four of us to sit and eat outside. Our bedroom had two large built in wardrobes and a vanity unit and another window overlooking pool.
Breakfast was a feast, there was something for everyone.Childrens cereals, linseeds, sunflower seeds, oats, ham, cheese, bacon ,sausages, omelettes cooked to your request, panini's, fresh bread, croissants, pain chocolat, and scotch pancakes.
On our first day round the pool, there were no sun beds free , so we asked at reception, and we were shown to the hotel across the road where there were an additional two pools, with no one around them. We spent most of our holiday here,as it was a delight to have a swimming pool to ourselves. There was a cafe with fantastic bar staff that served snacks etc. The staff really cared about the guests and after a storm had swept a lot of debris into the pool, they were straight on the case to return it to its former glory. The pool was crystal clear and did not smell of chemicals.No-one got ear infections or sore eyes.
The harbour beach was 1 minute walk from the hotel. It was sandy and the water was clean. Around the bay was another beach, es dolc - beautiful! Child friendly, snack bar in the middle of the beach. On the day it rained we booked the hotel jacuzzi .You have it all to yourselves for an hour. Evening entertainment was the usual mix of flamenco dancers, singers and transvestite show. Could have done with some more nightlife, specially as the main shopping centre of colonia san jordi consisted of one street! Dinner was as superb as breakfast and we had the head waiter fix us up with an outside table as soon as one was available. There was free champagne and spanish liquers on gala nights. Bar staff were attentive, but the bar closed about midnight. Hotel lobby had a phone booth available for guests to use at a much reduced rate. The hotel only had half board, we would have preferred all inclusive as last year it was definitely worth the money. You can never be quite sure whether your holiday will live up to your expectations, but the hotel was definitely 4* and our stay was everything we wanted it to be - we struck gold!

  • Liked — friendly staff and well equipped comfortable rooms
  • Disliked — not enough night life - everything stops at midnight
  • Tips/Secrets — forget the diet!

“spacious and comfortable apartments”

Recently returned from our summer break with my husband and 2 fourteen year olds. Before I went I couldn't find one review on this hotel and vowed to write one if that was the case after returning.
Car transfer independantly arranged over web, hotel 30 minutes from Palma airport. Aparthotel very clean, comfortable - apart from the bolster style pillows. Daily maid service. Air conditioning efficient in rooms. Children slept on sofa beds in lounge. Master bedroom with twin beds. Balcony large enough for a table and 4 chairs with a rack on the wall for drying towels. Banana palms growing around the apartment blocks. Swimming pools clean and water quality very good - no sore eyes from the children spending hours in the water. The main pools in the aparthotel can become busy with younger children as they have a shallow area at the start of the pool, but across the road is the sister 3* hotel with two pools which we quite often had to ourselves. Food very good with plenty of choice for breakfast and dinner. Restaurant has 2 sittings for dinner. Some dining tables are outside - make a request to reserve one as soon as possible as you sit at the same table every evening but can choose where to sit for breakfast. Local supermarket 2 mins walk away to stock up on drinks for the fridge/ fresh baguettes for lunch. Only downside to the hotel was the evening entertainment (every other day and very amateurish, so not a lot happening in the evening, although my children spent some of their time on msn in the hotel lobby, chatting to their friends back home) and the lack of a fellow Englishman to say hello to during the fortnight stay. Our waiter introduced himself to us and said welcome to Germany! However our German holiday makers were much better at conversing to us in English than we were in German and all guests seemed friendly and children well behaved . Despite some guests reserving sunloungers, the friendly hotel staff were always able to produce more beds if needed. The Gym facilities were a little antiquated and poorly maintained and the room was without air conditioning! Young children seemed to have a good time with activities each day resulting in a show each night around 7pm. Closest beach is two streets away and town about 10 min walk. Unfortunately stormy weather had blown in huge amounts of seaweed, which over the course of the fortnight reached an 8ft pile scraped up off the beach, which did smell in the sunshine. No problem with jellyfish on beach, although some seen further out to sea. takes about 40 mins to walk to Es trenc beach,or you can pick up the glass bottomed boat from the harbour. Kids weren't impressed by the occasional nudist! To the right of the harbour, a pleasant coastal walk to the lighthouse and beyond . We hired a car for our second week from Hiper, (booked over the web before travelling) which couldn't have been easier to return to the airport departure drop off area on our way home. If there weren't anymore places to visit in Majorca that I haven't yet seen, I would definitely return.

  • Liked — spacious and with kitchenette facitlites giving extra flexibility if needed
  • Disliked — the pillows!
  • Tips/Secrets — ask for a dining table outside for the second sitting (8 - 9.30 pm)
