“The best hotel in the village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2010

Well, it is not the best hotel in the world, but the best in that village. I fell disturbed when always eating from the buffet, which is pretty good, but I prefer to be served on a table, more if it is every day. All the surroundings are good, the entertainment the best, so it's also the biggest hotel there, the rooms good and big. The bar terrasse, from service and furnishment, seems to be more a three stars, as well as the pool cafetería. Most of the staff is friendly and helpful. Ask for a room sunside, if not it could be humid in the springtime. Kids use do be noisy and there in the hotel only in school break. Don't expect too much distraction either in the hotel or in that village.

“A pleasant and friendly hotel with a bias for german clients”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

Just returned from a nine night stay here,

The rooms are clean and pleasant, hard to fault really, the prices in the hotel for drinks and the like are also quite reasonable, and the "animation team" are very good.

Pool area is pleasant, and its easy to get a sun bed as the hotel as a 30 minute rule that stops people putting towels down at 6am in the morning as they get removed!

The hotel also has around 8 floodlit tennis courts, a well equipped gym, and beauty treatments, it also has nightly entertainment which is of a good standard.

we stayed on Half Board, and ate at the buffet for several nights, food was reasonable but will not blow you away and is doesnt compare with a freshly prepared restaurant food,. There is a selection of food on offer, but it doesnt vary much, we got bored very quickly and ate out the last few nights, and consequently found a great restaurant called "Marisol".

The clientele is a mixture, probably around 50% german, 30% spanish, and a mixture of other nationalities, and there were around 30 english people so not completely isolated.
Also the german clientele are generally very pleasant and friendly, but english definitely isnt the main language for staff, german and spanish is.

For example at the kids club, which my daughters attended, there was often a lack of explanation as they only really spoke spanish and german fluently not so much english, and hence she sometimes felt isolated, however for the price of the hotel the kids club is comprehensive, but I wouldnt leave very young children in the club unsupervised due to the communication and ratio of staff to very young childen.

The hotel is generally very child friendly however and each night they have a kids disco which everyone seems to really love, including my children.

Basically, if you are english and have a family, you will have a good time, but you wont get the most out of what is available unless you are fluent in german or spanish!

Overall recommended and would return, not necessarily as a must do, but more a safe and reliable option as you will have a pleasant stay.

“Nice, with faults”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010 via mobile

It's a shame, this could be a beautiful hotel. However certain faults lower my rating. I'll start with the negatives. Firstly, contary to other reviews I didn't think the hotel was great for children. We encountered a very stroppy life gaurd who spoke next to no English and showed a direct aversion to 'fun' in his very, very cold pool. I thought the decor in the rooms was a little dated. The food was, infact, very nice however it is extreamly repetitive if staying more than a week. More worryingly, the meat cooked at stations in the buffet resturant was often very under cooked, in some cases nearly raw. Two of my friend's rooms was broken into and mobile phones stolen, although the hotel did post extra security staff around the hotel following this incident. Bar drinks and the onsite shop are overpriced.

On the flip side most hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The piano bar in the evening was nice and the piano music was good. The grounds are lovely and well maintained, very relaxing, and the tennis and gym facilities are superb. The hotel's public areas are tastfuly decorated and have a comfy and relaxing atmosphere.

“Great location for families with children up to 14yrs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

If you get a good deal, this is a great place to stay and explore some fantastic beaches as well as enjoy the hotel which is still of high standard. Staff were very friendly, food very good. Great English / cont beakfasts and large variety of evening dinner.
Entertanmentt on most nights was very good. Very geared up for families with young children who attend the Blaudi Club. Animation team, if you really get bored, are good
and do a good job. Grounds very green and well kept.
Do take the 11.00 bus to Sa Rapita...fantastic beach. Take train to the port for 3.50E and go the Es Dolc beach 1km along bay, also very good. Es Cabo is a futher 1.5 kms, O.K, but not a good trek for young children. Museum is v. good too. not much in the town, but Port O.K Not for teens looking to party.

“Seen Better Days”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2010

person found this review helpful

I stayed here for 4 days with a friend, mainly to sunbathe on Es Trenc beach (which was fantastic, but you need a car).

The hotel was fairly basic (small rooms, dated furniture) but the grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The hotel advertised air conditioning, but it is operated centrally and only operates when the temperature is over 25 degrees, it then automatically switches off at 11pm regardless of the temperature!!! If you've paid for air conditioning, you should be able to get it - would hate to stay here in July/August.

The food was fresh and you had a good choice, however when we ate late it wasn't nice to see the staff filling plates for themselves and then clearing around you before the advertised restaurant closing time. Bar staff were very inattentive and at midnight they closed the bar and turned off ALL the lights and went home.

We were the only Brits at the hotel and I felt a little ignored. I wouldn't want to stay here again.
