“First time in Mallorca”

We chose this hotel, because it looked the best and the closest place to stay in proximity to the BEST Swim Centre, where my husband had booked some coaching sessions. This was a lovely hotel with well landscaped outdoor areas. Stayed in block 5, which initially I thought was out of the way, but then I was pleased it was, because of the entertainment noise late on, which must have been annoying if you were nearer the main building. The apartment was spacious. The beds were on the hard side with thin pillows, so I used the extra blanket(s) provided to place under my pillow - sorted. Staff were friendly and helpful, although sometimes you had to work things out for yourselves. Food was excellent and having a buffet style dessert table was a first for me - I was in my element! Didn't mind the predominantly German clientelle. I think we were talking more German than Spanish! Entertainment was good on the whole with well known songs sung in English! Hotel provided a good base for exploring the surrounding area, with good beaches approx 10 mins walk either side of the town. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Go for a stay in blocks 4 or 5 if you want less outside and/or entertainment noise, but go for block...

“Pleasant 'all needs' catered for holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

This was our first time in Mallorca and we really loved Colonia de Sant Jordi and this hotel. We were here for a 10 day break and chose this hotel because of its close proximity to the Best Swim Centre, literally 2 minutes walk down the road and a great place for swim training. We wanted to combine some swim training with relaxation and it worked fantastically. The hotel buffet style food was lovely with a wide choice, at breakfast and dinner you also had the choice of freshly cooked food by the chefs. Although the hotel is predominately used by Germans (it is a German hotel after all) we had no problems being understood by the staff who were mostly pleasant and helpful. The facilities are very good and the Zumba class I went to was hot work but great fun. There are lots of sunbeds around the beautiful pools, and we had no problems getting two when we chose to stay in the hotel during the day. The rooms are good and had everything we needed (we did ask for extra pillows), we took a travel kettle with us as we like to have a drink in the room. There is a supermaket on site and prices were not very different from local supermarkets. Evening entertainment was varied and enjoyable, the head waiter always remembered what we drank. There are mossies early evening so be aware and take some protection. The choice of beaches is great even if there is a bit of a walk, for us it was no problem. Like many others we bought a parasoll from one of the local shops which gave us flexibility in where we went on the beaches - you do need shade, there are some groups of sunbeds with fixed shade, and the beaches are long and sandy with no trees. We went on the 9 Sept and every day was clear blue skies 30', just one slighlty cloudy day. Salt production is a big part of the district and that's what you can see if you use Google Earth and wonder what the lake is at the side of the hotel - they are harvesting salt, very interesting actually. We would definately come back.

Room Tip: We were in block 3 and it was a very good location for pools, dining and entertainment.

“Another Positive Blau Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

This was our third visit to a Blau hotel in Mallorca, predominantly based on their cleanliness, good food, factilities and the lack of 'Brits Abroad' tourists - personally we prefer a mixed European group, which these hotels seem to attract.

The pool area at Sant Jordi was smaller than the other hotels, which was a disappointment, compounded by the ridiculous bed-bagging, however we really liked the proximity to the resort itself and the ability to wander around shops and restaurants in the evening. We also enjoyed the bus shuttles to both beaches, particularly to Sa Rapita.

We requested an upgrade to a suite by e mailling the hotel direct and were fortunate enough to be given a redecorated suite away from the main entertainment and pool area which suited us down to the ground. The rooms were clean and well fitted, with a good sized sofa bed in the lounge area.

Overall, we enjoyed the holiday and found the hotel perfect for a lazy beach/ pool few days in the sun.

“Exceeded expectations for a family holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We stayed at the Blau Club Colonia in August 2011 for 10 days and had a good time overall. Like previous reviewers there are some VERY strange policies such as charging you to use the room safe - in our case £30 - WHY??? It seems so petty and doesn't put you in the right mindset when you check in.

Our room was fine. The beds were very comfortable - hard mattresses, but that's how we like them. Cleanliness on arrival was excellent and the standard of Maid service on a daily basis was very high. We were in block 5 which I would highly recommend as it is by far the quietest block with no noise from the kids disco or the later evening entertainment.

The buffet breakfast and dinner were of high quality with plenty of different dishes changing each night. You do tend to get a bit bored with buffet style dining after a few days though, however good the food. The "two sitting" issue whereby you have to choose to eat between 06.30 and 8.00 or 8.30 and 10.00 didnt bother us as with a young child we were eating at 6.30. That being said I don't understand why you cant just turn up when you want - I'm sure it would work.

The pools were great - especially the deeper pool near the spa. Despite signs saying that sunbeds couldnt be reserved and after 30 minutes the pool attendents would remove towels on empty sunbeds they didnt and there was a lot of reserving sunbeds for the day to perhaps use for an hour in the afternoon going on.

The bar/restaurant staff were really friendly and very helpful, as were the reception staff. The kids club was fantastic and although there were a lot of Germans there, there were plenty of other nationalities too.

All in all a good value stay and an enjoyable holiday. If the few niggles could be sorted this would be 5 star.

Room Tip: For peace and quiet go for block 5

“Noisy, uncomfortable, sleepless....avoid”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

WE stayed at this hotel for 5 nights at the beginning of September (2 adults and a child) we had booked a junior suite and asked for a quiet room. What we got was a very basic accommodation overlooking the spa pool with a sofa bed(room 2101). The first thing to say about the room is the beds are AWFUL! They are the hardest I have ever slept on and have the thinnest hardest pillows. On the first day we asked for additional pillows and for an alternative mattress, what we got was a blanket placed on top of the hard mattress which made no difference and 4 extra thin hard pillows. Moving away from the beds to the noise, the hotel puts on a euro mini disco from 8-9pm nightly followed by "entertainment" until about 11.30pm. The difficulty with this is it takes place on a stage by the pool so even if you want to go to bed or sit on your balcony and relax in the peaceful surroundings you can't as the sounds of Agadoo and other umpah favourites are blasted around the complex. The entertainment was appalling on all 5 nights we were there, the worst being an inept clown and a woman shouting in German. Our room was near some sort of pool filter/generator which intermittently whirred all through the night too! The food is mediocre, same thing for every breakfast and evening meal. You have to go in to a specific sitting to eat and this is pretty inflexible so you can't enter the restaurant between 7.45 and 8.30pm (a time we would have liked to eat) as they are setting up the next sitting. The pools are lovely the surroundings are beautiful and the hotel could be really nice but falls very short of the mark. Almost entirely German resort which is fine but you do feel like an outsider and there is very little Spanishness about in Sant Jordi. WE tried to find a bar to watch England Bulgaria match but every one of the 10 bars we tried was showing a Germany match. All in all this place is a disappointment it did not provide the relaxation we had hoped for in a quiet beautiful part of the island. AVOID!

Room Tip: as far away from the pools as possible if you want peace and quiet

We are sorry to hear about your disappointed holidays in our hotel.
I apologise for the lack of service regarding changing mattress, I'm sure we could have done much better then offering just a blanket on top. Mattresses are almost brand new, purchased last winter.
We are a type of Club Hotel Holidays and we provide a large day and evening entertainment schedule (cabarets, shows, live music, children disco), which in the summertime take place outside on the terrace until 23.30. The best choice for a quiet room in the premises would have been in bloc 5 away from the centre, I don't unterstand why it was not offered to you on your first report to reception.
If you trust us once again, I personally would be pleased to cater for your best service.
Pep Machado, Hotel's manager.
