We have just returned from a stay in this old Spanish finca ,we had stayed in a four star hotel for the previous week and like to travel independently so for our second week we decided to stay in a mallorcan finca and chose Finca es Palmer . My Husband and I were made to feel very welcome by Maria when we arrived we couldn’t speak Spanish and she couldn’t speak English but .we bought a book on Spanish and with that and hand signs got on very well. The owner speaks a little English though Our room was in the little Spanish rooms near the courtyard and decorated in old Spanish style. some rooms were in an old windmill and the gardens were full of palm trees ,also .there is a swimming pool .This was a very peaceful and relaxing place .I think it was rare to have British visitors and the rest of the guests seemed to speak Spanish French and German. Sometimes they had people from America at the beginning of the year
The food was served in a garden like dining room .what can I say about the food. Most of the food was from the owner’s garden and the meals were superb. Home made marmalades and jams. we sat for our evening meal with the warm breeze .candlelight at the tables and Spanish music or classical in the background .The first course was salad with olives and bread. But never the same .Next main course and then dessert .of which my favourite was lemon sorbet made with lemons from the garden. The owner Mr Velasco served the meal in the evening and his kindness and that of the rest of the staff made it a very memorable and peacefull stay.
