I stayed with my boyfriend at the Isla del sol, ca'n pastilla, in the middle of August this year.
The hotel is situated at the "spanish end" of the Palma beach, a nice hood to spend time in - opposite to the the "german end" near Arenal.
The staff are friendly, speaking english and spanish. The rooms are looking a bit primitive, but with a little re-decorating it became more comfortable (2 beeds/madresses can be combined to a twinbed). Old kitchen facilities, but everything you need on a holiday! The bathroom is perfect! And we loved spending time on the sunny and large balcony. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the beach, and nearby you find restaurants, shops, internet cafes etc. The bus stop for Palma is around the corner.
All together, it's a nice (cheap) hotel and perfect for our needs. Go for it :)

We booked a studio room at Isla Del Sol appartments in Can Pastilla, Mallorca. We only stayed there 1 night because we had booked the other nights in different hotels. We paid Euro 35 for the studio room. It was an incredible bargain.

Yes, it has 2 sofas that can be merged into a double bed. Very clean premises. In fact they provide you with a refrigerator which was missing in other hotels that were three times more expensive. Perfect for those who want to stay for a longer duration and have the ability to cook up a meal and store some drinks / yoghurts in their fridge.

Smiling faces all around - staff, owners and even the resident holiday-makers. Everybody seems very happy. They have balconies in their studio rooms overlooking the 2 (small) swimming pools. I could see a lot of people just sitting in the balconies enjoying their meals or checking email or just having a good time.

Also they have a stunning collection of cactus plants decorating the area around the reception and the swimming pool. It must have taken them years to build that collection. If you are an avid photographer, you must see this collection.

To say that their staff were helpful is an understatement. We only stayed a night there but they were willing to help us with any local transport arrangements or guide us on what to get and where to get it with a smile and lots of patience. They speak all the main languages.

They have a bar near the reception with a pool table and there were lots of couples just hanging around at night having a good time playing pool.

On their brochure, they provide another complimentary service which really shows how much they care about their guests - Suppose you have a late night flight and have to check out of your room before noon. Imagine that you are in Mallorca on a hot sunny BEACH day. What do you do ?

If you stay at Isla Del Sol, go ahead and head for the beach.
On your return from the beach in the evening, they will give you fresh towels and allow you to take a complimentary shower anytime before your flight departure. Now that's what I call service.

Location is very central in Can Pastilla with easy access to public transportation. You can take bus no.s 15 and 17 from Palma City Centre (Plaza Espanya). These run every 10 minutes. From Palma city towards S'Arenal, you have to get off at the bus stop called Hotel (Hotetur) Linda and it is 30 metres walking distance from there in the street called Carrer de Pins.

It takes about 15 minutes by bus from Plaza Espanya & costs Euro 1.10 per person. Another landmark to watch out for is the Hasso Car Hire which is right next to the bus stop.

Lots of restaurants around the vicinity. I highly recommend the following 2 Italian restaurants (especially if you are a vegetarian) : Il Corleone restaurant and there is another place just 2 minutes from there (Unable to recollect the name of the place).

In my personal opinion, this second place (their tables are covering with red and white checkers table cloth) serves absolutely the best pasta in the world. Run by a British lady. Very jovial and friendly.

Playa de Palma (Palma beach) is approx. 400-500 metres walking distance away from the hotel in one direction. There is another beach strip which is only 200 metres away in the other direction.

Is the studio room small as commented by the previous reviewer ? Not really. I thought it was a good size. Again this is my opinion. What matters is that it did have everything essential. And it was beyond our expectations.

Another reason to choose this hotel is its proximity to the airport. It is only 5 minutes ride (taxi Euro 8) from the airport. But you dont hear the noise of the flights in the room.

Would I stay there on my next holiday to Palma ? Most certainly I would choose this apartment hotel. Byt the way this used to be called Isla del Sol hotel. Now it is called Isla del Sol Apartments.

The hotel rooms were SO SMALL, we had the studio and there was a small stove and sink IN THE CLOSET! You dont even get a bed, you get two couches that you have to sleep on. There is NO air conditioning and NO FAN- the rooms are extremely hot. When you open the windows you are eaten alive by mosquitos!!! Terrible terrible.
