“Disappointing!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2011

After reading mostly great reviews, I was very disappointed with the certain things a 5 star hotel should have offered! I booked a deluxe room with the view to the sea, the beach, and the town Camp de Mar. These rooms cost 60.00 to 100.00 Euros more a night compare to the other rooms in the hotel. What a view that was! They gave us a room on the 6th (top) floor with a view of the wall which was built in front of the balcony. The only way you could see the sea and the beach was if you stood infront of the balcony wall and leaned over to see it. If you dared to sit, the only view you got was the wall and the sky (not even the green hills around). I recommend not to waste your money for a nice view unless you can guarantee the rooms 501, 502, 601, and 602. These corner rooms have an iron see through balcony fence vs. a solid high wall.

When we arrived to the hotel, the front desk told us that the room was not ready yet. They asked for a phone number to let us know once the room was ready and sent us to breakfast which we were expected to pay extra! We waited and waited and no calls! After three hours, I finally decided to go back to the reception to ask what happened. Well, it turns out that the room was ready for several hours but they forgot to call us!

My husband wanted to know about the golf courses with special rates around the island for the hotel guests. They had a nice printed list available. He asked for a copy to own. As the receptionist was going to provide us with the copy, the other person at the desk rudely interrupted her and told her not to give us the list. She told us that the list was available in the internet and we can get it that way! The cheapest room in this hotel is 310 Euros a night and internet is not free!

The rooms were clean but they never replenished the water and other beverages even though I specifically asked for it. The complimentary fruit plate had rotten fruits in it.

The staff at the breakfast area were polite and professional. The breakfast bar was also OK.

The Golf course does not belong to the hotel. So, the hotel has no oversite over their management. We had issues there too.

The hotel advertises "Best Price Guarantee" but they do not honor it! You certainly do not get your money's worth. It is too pricey for what you get in return. I would rate them no more than 3-4 stars!

Room Tip: Rooms 501, 502, 601 and 602.

“Awful service and food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2010

Mediterrana restaurant food was awful. We had set menu and duck was cold and tough. Never 5 star. Service so slow. Dessert pretty average. Eat elsewhere if you have to stay here,

“One of the best hotels in Mallorca”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

I stayed here with my wife and our 3 year old daughter during the first week of September 2010. I read many reviews before booking and they were almost all positive. Our stay here matched our high expectations. The food is excellent. Breakfast is a very nice buffet with lots of variety, all high quality and a friendly omelette/crepe guy. If you choose half board then dinner is a different theme menu every night (eg Mexican, BBQ, Japanese, etc), or you can order off the menu. But either way the food is excellent. The staff are all very friendly, especially Jorg, Luis and Suzanna, but everyone really. They were happy to cater to our little one being difficult which was fantastic and much appreciated. The week we stayed I would say about 80% of the guests were Germans, as Dorint is a big German hotel chain. But this should not concern anyone as by & large the guests were as friendly as the staff and all the staff spoke English. The hotel has a nice kiddie centre with outdoor section that offers free childcare. But the hotel is not specifically set up for kids, so don’t expect separate wading pools or a playground. The beach is 10 minutes walk away and is fine, but it does get busy as lots of people tend to use it. We ate in as its easier with our daughter, but others regularly took an easy 10 euro taxi to Port of Andratx, with many dining options and nice harbour views. The golf course is 85 euros for 18 holes, and that includes compulsory cart hire which you definitely need as there are a few hills and long walks between holes. The course is quite good, but a bit narrow in places, so you are often better off leaving the driver in the bag for some holes. They had a sundowner rate of 50 euros after 4pm which was a bargain. The driving range is basic but does the job, with plenty of driving room, plus a good putting area and a chipping/pitching green with bunkers. Range is free for guests but ball tokens are 5 euros for about 45 balls. Guests gets 2 free tokens per stay. The gym was good with latest weight & cardio machines, but no heavy free weights. My wife enjoyed the spa treatments and though the pricing was reasonable. Overall this is a great hotel. After staying in many Spanish 4-star resort hotels that were fine but nothing special, its great to have finally found a place that is truly 5-star. Of course its more expensive but we thought it was worth it.

“nice but expensive location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

the dorint is usually foreseen for golfers - not that much my friends. but nevertheless i stayed there and i fully enjoyed it.

it's about half an hour away from palma and about 5 minutes by car away from the sea. you can see it from your great, wonderful and really stylish rooms.

as it is a 5*hotel you can experience a nice service - everywhere. and the best is to have great breakfast on your own balcony - with everything your heart needs to chill down.

go there and enjoy your being!

“Relaxing 5 star hotel with added charm...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2010

The hotel lived up to all expectations. The staff are efficient and friendly, the rooms are a good size, nicely decorated and clean. The pool area and sun terraces are well laid out and the pool itself was a perfect size and temperature. The upstairs bar was the perfect place to unwind after a hard day's sunbathing... chilled Cava and olives. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The restaurant was good but not excellent as is the room service which was a little disappointing. The most charming and memorable part of our holiday came from a duck who every day would arrive poolside 11:30am, clean his feathers and then proceed to take a swim in the pool....note to future guests...he likes french fries!
