“dont go”

Let me start by saying this is the first time I have ever left a review, but I felt so strongly that I should, also I am an ex-chef and hotelier. We went on a Thomson A la Carte 5star rating, hotel is a offical rating 4star.Buffet breakfast is ok,evening buffet is very bland and boring, you walk around looking for somethink to eat.Best food is at the pool bar (daytimes).Gym is to far away from the hotel its under the outside pool, and the ouside & inside pools were so cold the sea was warmer .As for the so called spa just a joke and as for the wellness center, treat ments are very expensive, the sanctuary spa, covent garden prices, also all ways empty.Hotel bar prices are expensive for a hotel of this rating,gin&tonic7.50eur and the bars are empty by 10.30 so is illetas in fact its dead.5star this hotel is not, good 3star ok 4star.And last but not least was charged 50eur to keep my room for 4hrs.
As you can tell I will not be-going back, lots of much better hotels on Majorca then this.
But if you are over 70 like to go to bed by 10pm and dont like your food much this is the hotel for you.

Dear guests.
First of all thanks to choose us to spend your holidays.
Just information for all our guest:
There is an option to have dinner a la carta if you find something from the buffet that you dont really like to eat.
Everyday in our restaunrant on dinner time there are 2 Directors and 1 Maitre next to the buffet if any guest need something out of the buffet they are allways glad to serve to all our guests.
Our outdoor pool is next to the sea and is not heated.
best regards

“One of my favourites”

I have lost count of the number of times we have visited this hotel since 2001. It has certainly had its ups and downs but now appears to have got its act together again.
The location overlooking the Bay of Palma is superb and despite the limitations of Illetas the proximity by bus to Palma is a major plus.
Yes, the rooms need updated but the views from the balconies more than make up for any shortcomings.( I believe there is a program of refurbishment under way)
The hotel's best asset, however, is its staff. They will go out of their way to help the guests enjoy their stay.

Room Tip: ask for one of the higher floors

“An Excellent Hotel”

As soon as you see this Hotel you are impressed. It is not a high raise but built on the rocks down towards the beach. So on first sight you only see one floor. 8 floors in total all built down towards the beach. The reception is very big and opulent. Reception staff are very pleasant and really helpful. Greeted with a glass of Cava and one of the 3 managers introduce herself and explained she and her other colleagues would be there for me during my stay. How true this was. You was greeted with your name and meet every evening in the Restaurant my the staff and Managers.
The rooms are big and very well maintained and everything you would wish for a pleasant stay. I was on the side towards Palma bay overlooking the rocks. Very comfy beds and the bathroom big and very modern. The house keeping was of an excellent standard.
Now for me the best part of the holiday, the Restaurant and the service and choice of food available. Excellent.. Such a good choice, both at breakfast and dinner. You would not be disappointed here. Your Dinner can be served by the waiter or you can have buffet style dinning. All in all the food and service is first class.
The pool area very good and once again 1st class treatment here. I didn’t use the spa facilities but it looks once again of a very high standard.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anybody, and will return when next in Mallorca.

“Didn't Want to Leave!”

The hotel facilities are well described elsewhere and this hotel lives up to the reputation of other 'Palace' hotels in the chain. The staff are very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to help you enjoy your holiday. The rooms are comfortable and the buffet style food is excellent with something for everybody. The hotel is located in leafy Illetes which is 5 miles or so to the west of Palma--however,the number 3 bus stops immediatly outside of the hotel and the cost of a single trip is 1.25 euro's--the service is every 10 minutes This bendybus starts its journey in Illetes and seats are readily available at the hotel--the bus fills up quickly and is soon standing room only.Sit looking forward and you will be able to see a display telling you of the next stop.Getting off at Placa D'Espana brings you into the centre of the old town and access to the 'Edwardian' train to Soller(recommended trip).Catching the return bus from this stop will get you a seat! Adjacent to the pool area are steps leading to a deep water small harbour with easy access for swimming in the sea.All in all an excellent holiday destination for someone who wants access to city shopping but also a hotel in a leafy seaside location. I shall return. Please note that floors 5 and 8 of the hotel are 'smoking' floors--avoid if you want a smoke free balcony!

Room Tip: Avoid floors 5 and 8 if you are a non smoker or want a smoke free balcony!

“Another great holiday at the Bonanza Playa!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

We visited in the first week of October to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We had been to the Bonanza Playa before (about 6 times in fact) but not for the last 3 years. We were pleased to be able to say that, yet again, we had a good holiday at the hotel. When you've been somewhere a few times you can start to see how things are run (in our view) and we continue to be impressed by the standard of management here. There has to be a special mention for the restaurant and its hard working staff. The food is buffet style (with an optional a la carte menu) and is of a very good quality, with a wide choice of dishes, literally from omelettes through to caviar. The maitre d' in the restaurant is Pepe, who is not only good at his job but who also, on gala nights, wanders amongst the diners with an accordionist giving a good rendition of O Sole Mio which delights everyone.

Although the room allocated to us was very good we asked Reception if we could have one we had stayed in before. We did send a request via the Riu website for this a couple of weeks before but it had not been sent on to the hotel. After initially saying that this was not possible due to other bookings, they then, the next day, did make it happen even though we were happy to stay in the first room. It would be helpful to show direct email contacts for each hotel on the Riu website although Reception did say it is best to call them with requests. The rooms are comfortable and reasonably well equipped although we would like to see tea and coffee making facilities included which you would normally expect to find in a hotel of this standard.

The level of customer service and courtesy is very high. We have always been made to feel very welcome here and we really enjoy the holiday. The entertainment we liked best was the flamenco dancing and this certainly seemed to pull the best crowd of the week. We would like to see more Spanish entertainers (classical guitarist maybe?) rather than the more generic style of singers and musicians.

Overall, if you want a quietly pleasant and relaxing holiday we would recommend the hotel and the resort. No, it's not a cheap holiday but if you want a good standard of service, good facilities and accommodation within a reasonable price band then it is good value for money. Also, there is a lot that some of our  UK hotels could learn about customer service from this hotel.   It's easy to get into Palma from here, just a 30 min bus ride from directly outside the hotel. You can also walk up to Bendinat where there is a good golf course and restaurants if you don't mind a bit of hilly walk.

All in all we have no complaints, we love it here and we will be back again for sure.
