This was our first family holiday abroad, 2 adults and 2 kids aged 9 and 6. We met friends from home with same age children. Booked 11 nights all inclusive, early August 2011.
Room:-
We had a family room on the 7th floor overlooking the pool bar on the end of the hotel, it was huge. The room was cleaned every day of our 11 night stay with fresh towels every day.
Staff:-
The staff were very polite and always helpful. The hotels entertainment team were great with all the kids and even though it was august somehow managed to remember all the kids names, activities were split into age groups with activities throughout the day and at the kids disco in the evening. My daughter loved all the activities and won a couple of games and had her certificate presented to her on stage in the evening.
Pools:
Around the pools were plenty of sun beds but you needed to be down at the pool by 9.30 to reseve them if you wanted a specific space, Three pools, standard but functional and always room in at least 1 for a swim or play.
Evening Entertainment:-
In house entertainment was mixed, sometimes brilliant, sometimes Hi Di Hi but they always tried hard, every 2 - 3 nights outside entertainment came in which was brilliant, Jacksons tribute great, motown tribute fab, Parrot show, Broadway show great, the kids were allowed on stage with the acts which they loved and made them feel part of the act.
Food / Drink:-
4 different food options which was great with 2 kids, Main restaurant open 8 - 10, 1 - 3 and 6.30 - 9 for main meals , buffet style, great selection of food each time including loads of fish dishes. Poolside bar open 10am - 6pm severing fast food, make your own sandwiches and salads. Pizzeria open 12 - 12 offering pasta and pizza all day and after 9pm food from the main restaurant, Bar-b-Q, open 6 - 9pm daily, you food is cooked to order and you get to eat looking out over the beach. Drinks, the kids had an endless supply of soft drinks and the hotels bar was open 12 -12 and the pool bar 10 - 6 and 7 - 12 for evening entertainment for alcohol, we always got severed quickly even with some queue’s but not that big and no more than can be expected in high season. Wine and soft drinks also avialiable in the main restaurant and pizzeria.
Location:-
The hotels location is amazing overlooking a brilliant beach that is just 2 mins. walk away. The beach was very busy as it was August but we always found a space, crystal clear water with literally hundreds of fish swimming round you. The kids hand fed fish every day and the beach is lifeguarded, take your mask and snorkel.
On the way to the beach is a place you can pick up coastal boat trips to Porto Cristo, a great day out. We also caught the local bus , stop directly outside hotel , to there again as it was such a nice place.
Calas de Majorca is however not that great, the only downside of the holiday, a few bars and shops in a square 5 mins. walk from hotel, just no atmosphere, ok for kids holiday shopping but have been to so many better resort centres.
Other stuff:-
Free Wi-Fi in the reception area, Hotel provided packed lunches for you when you wanted to go away for the day, which was a great added bonus, small games room for kids. Most evenings a market stall was set up at the back of the entertainment area which sold all the usual stuff kids and adults wanted such as lighty up toys and very cheap "designer" handbags and watches
Overall a great holiday and a great hotel for food, location and entertainment with great staff.
