We (me, husband, and 2 kids (4 & 2) went on holiday here for two weeks in the middle of June 2011. Lovely first impression - very clean abd helpful staff and this lasted throughout the holiday. The food was good in the buffet restaurant which was always busy. Something different every day as well as the staples. Good selection for kids too - and we have one fussy eater. The other restaurants were also lovely and a little less hectic but with the wee ones we stuck mainly to the main buffet restaurant.
The apartments are modern and spread out in a village style. Ours was a 1 bed apartment at the far end of the complex which was a few minutes walk from the main hotel area. This suited us as it was well away from the main entertainment at night if we wanted to take the kids back early.
The kids entertainment was great - my kids loved Smiley and his friends everynight before the main entertainment. Also for the kids there is a couple of kids pools and a playpark as well as the kids club. Our kids didn't go to the club but it looked well organised and good fun.
Plenty to do for adults too - football, tennis, table tennis, boules, archery, pilates, spinning (if you like that kind of thing on holiday!) Much more to my holiday taste was the spa, which wasn't too pricey. I had an indian head massage which was fab.
There are plenty pools to choose from and the beach is right at the complex. The beach is a lovely wee shallow cove and the hotel's beach restaurant is right there so you can go there for lunch and for drinks. One small downside is that there are no parasols/sun shades provided. There is however shade to be had from trees around the pool so it's not too much of a problem. No need to take beach towels as you can get them from the hotel for a small deposit.
The hotel is a bit out of Cala D'Or so it's not for you if you like to be in the hubub and the centre of a town but this didn't bother us at all as the entertainment was good at the hotel. We did hire a car for a day and visited the Caves of Drach and had a wee drive round the coast to see a few different places. Hiring the car and visiting Caves of Drach ourselves was, by the way was cheaper for us than doing the Thomas Cook organised trip.
There are a few shops on site too - the wee supermarket has everything you will need from nappies and sun cream to beer, crisps, fruit and sweeties as well as the all important buckets and spades.
All in all we had a lovely relaxing holiday. The kids loved it and so did we - so much so that we have broken our rule of not going back to the same place and have booked to go again in June 2012.
