We decided to go on a last minute deal with lowcostholidays.com & Ryanair & found this hotel in Mallorca. Previous reviews were good so we thought we would try it out as we wanted an all inclusive low cost sunny/warm break at end of October 2011. We had a good quick & on time flight from Bournemouth & arrived quite late on the Monday night & were picked up at the airport by coach & deposited straight to our hotel - very efficient. We arrived about 10.45pm & we were welcomed by very friendly staff & advised that their were snacks still available in the restaurant & drinks in the bar until midnight (literature says 11pm) so we were pleased about that as otherwise it would have been very tight to avail ourselves of the facilities if it closed at 11pm as advertised!
Our room was basic but clean & we had a lovely little balcony overlooking the bay - very pleasant indeed. It even had an old fashioned TV which could get BBC1 so we didn't even have to miss 'strictly' :)
The weather for the time of year was warm 20 to 23 degrees but not always full sun but still very pleasant - just 1 stormy night!
The meals were very English & most of the guests were English it seemed but the food was good if not a bit 'samey' but OK for a week but we did supplement that with eating out a couple of times as well to get some variety. The free 'drink' was good but you had to pay for 'branded' alcohol drinks like Baileys but the coffee liquer was excellent - shame about the regular coffee tho yuck!! Next time we will bring some Rombouts!! We did manage to find some good coffee 'out & about' though but generally coffee is not Mallorca's strongest point but the views & scenery certainly are!
We decided on spec to hire a car (black Fiesta) for 3 days for 60e from the local car hire place 2 minutes away in the resort (cheaper than doing it direct with the hotel which was 75e). You have to pay 29e for half tank of petrol & you return the vehicle back as empty as possible which is quite difficult to do - we ended up leaving about a quarter of a tank but it was worth it anyway as we got to visit local resorts when we liked & travelled up the slightly unnerving mountain roads but that's another story! There was plenty of parking in the road outside the hotel - no hotel car park.
The plus points: cheap week/reasonable weather/hire car/good food/free alcohol/pleasant staff/great views/good sun terrace/food available & drinks all of the time.
The not so good/could have been better points: very British hotel food/bit dated hotel decor/naff & loud entertainment/TV bit basic - intermittantly working/better bath shower would have been nice/coffee yuck/lights in public area were off most of the time!
It was worth the trip & cost but as we have been to mallorca twice now we would choose somewhere different next time but worth going if you have not been before.
