Not that bad - it is not a 5 star hotel but IMO it's worth the money we paid.

Hotel
Actually, it is a complex of 4 facilities (Apartment Ariel, Ariel, Hotel Appartment Ariel and Appartments Pins d'Or) located on both sides of the street called Calle Ariel. There is only one canteen and sceen for these 4 facilities but 4 separate pools and 2 bars. Pins d'Or seems to have been once a completely different facility and it has a quite special atmsphere. The court there is a bit neglected but I loved the old pine trees there and the silence.
The hotel is well located almost in the town center, close to bars and restaurants and 2 beaches (cala gran - the closer one, and cala d'or - 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel)

Rooms
We stayed in Pins d'Or so I can tell you only about this part of Ariel. We were on All In mode but we got a studio with it's own kitchen annexe. The room was clean and simple but on the other hand, what else do you need when you're on holiday in a place with a good weather? We had a cleaning service every two days and the waste bin was emptied every day.

Food
Not excellent but not bad either. We had also some sea food included (prawns, mules). The breakfast seems monotonous though. Sometimes you have to que for hot brevages.

Staff
Not too friendly, but was ok. Helpful when needed.

So, it was not a bad stay, just an ordinary one, we had a great relax with no nuisaces. A good value for a price.

This is by far the worst holiday we have ever had.
Had to change rooms (at a cost) as the rooms they gave us were disgusting. New rooms were very nice. We were in this Hotel on an all inclusive stay but we only tried the food once and decided to eat out for the rest of the week as the food could only be described as rubbish.
This Hotel is only catering for the German Holiday maker and as usual they took some getting used to They no longer get up early to put towels on the sunbeds they just dont take them of for the duration of their stay.
Cala Dor is a very nice place with a wide selection of shops bars and some very good resturants. The hotel is very close to the beach and watch out for the local bloke selling fruit he is amazing and very cheap.

we stayed at this hotel and apartments, in a studio apartment A/C. We arrived in the late night and the night porter was very helpful, they had put on some food for us, but it was covered and must of been there most of the evening but a nice touch to for us. The apartment was basic but clean, towels change only twice and beds once a week , and away from the main part of the hotel, if you have any walking disabilities then this place not for you, no lifts. The hotel caters mainly for germans and not many british here, the food was based on same and most of time not to your liking so eat out alot, but food was cook well for what we had. The staff mostly friendly but barman seemed drunk most nights. The hotel is very well placed in cala dor to walk around and only 200 mtrs to cala gran beach, on a score its average hotel and you didnt have to get up early for a sunbed because everyone went to beach or elsewhere.

Our travel company cancelled our orignal booking 24hrs before leaving so had no time to check this site out,big mistake !The Ariel states there are loads of activities and a kids club,what it fails to say is all the announcements and games are only available if you understand the German language! We attended the Quiz Night,but were unable to take part as all the questions were in German.Kids clubs and the entertainment have become such an important part of family holidays,but here your excluded unless your German.The other problem is the maids service is only provided 3 days per week,linen changed just once a week,DISGUSTING !so be prepared to make your beds and clean the room,the hotel provides broom,mop & bucket.Mums BEWARE ! On any type of board this is very poor,but I've never come across this in an ALL INCLUSIVE HOTEL !
The food is ok,but not very hot,never saw a member of staff use a food probe to check the food was being offered at correct temperatures,and there is no micro-wave to heat it up.The food presentation also leaves a lot to be desired ,this lack of attention can really put you off .The staff in general were pretty miserable,with the exception of Pepe, the barman, who was very helpfull and always had a smile.Most of the rooms face the streets,and while we were there the noise was not too bad,but I can imagine this may be a problem when the resort is full.In general this is a very poor 3 star hotel,who's staff need to be given some instruction in customer care.If you don't understand German you and your family will be isolated.This site is so important when trying to make the right choice when spending your hard earned cash on a holiday,becouse I had little time to accept the alternative accomodation offered at the last minute I made a grave error in coming here.DON'T MAKE THE SAME ERROR !
