“Lovely rooms terrible food!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Stayed at this hotel late September, weather was poor for a few days but there is nothing anyone can do about this... The transfer time is a bit too long for us and made worse by there only being one coach for about thirty people all arriving at various times, we landed at 9.30am but didn't reach our hotel until after 1pm!
The hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are like little flats on a complex with the pools and the restaurant in the middle of the site. It gave you a nice private feeling. We stayed in a small suite with a separate lung but I would have preferred just a room with everything in one place cause you couldn't watch tv in bed in a suite. The bathrooms are lovely with a power shower very clean and modern. The pools are clean and the area is very well looked after but for couples without children this is a very noisy complex, I think one of the pools would be better being adult only,
The only thing to really spoil this hotel was the absolutely terrible food! There was never anything to make a nice meal, all bits and bobs of things that did not go together. The veg was always over cooked and unappetising and even the salad bar was rubbish. We ate out a lot even for breakfast when we went half board which was a real waste of money, if I went again I would do the room only option and eat out every day, there was some lovely places to eat in Cala'dor and the shops for trinkets and gifts were brilliant. The beaches are small coves which got a little bit crowded so in summer it must be terrible but there is quite a lot to do there for families and the beaches are very safe as there isn't a long way for kids to wander off. If it wasn't for the ridiculous transfer I would definitely visit this hotel again but thought the transfer spoilt it for us.
The Chinese down the road from the hotel was rubbish, they advertise cheap meals outside but that is a set meal and not worth the money.
We drank in the Carrabell bar every night because there was not a lot of places still open in September but this was a brilliant friendly bar and once they got to know your face they greeted you every night. They did two for one on all drinks which worked out pretty good.
We never stayed in the hotel on an evening for the entertainment so cannot comment except to say that if it rains you have nothing there because all the entertainment is on an outside stage.
All in all nice resort nice hotel but bit too far from the airport.

Room Tip: Suites were nice as it had separate lounge but you cannot watch tv in bed!

“Great break”

Visited this hotel a while back and it was everything I wanted.
My friend and I got a late deal and had such a relaxing time.
The staff were brilliant including the entertainment guys who work really hard, drinks were great and the bar staff are great.
Loved the fact a there are 3 pools so you had a choice of where to go.
The room was brilliant with a good sized bedroom, bathroom and cooking and lounge area. We were all inclusive so didn't use the kitchen but was nice to have a fridge that you did not have to pay to use.
Only downside was the 24 hour reception was difficult to get into at 4am and we had to go back to our room to ring them to let us in to check out.
Overall a great time.

“Great value!”

This hotel is 10/15 min walk to the centre if you know how to walk!
Dont go right from the reception but walk down passing the beach om you left hand. Within minutes you will see the major street to the centre with a lot if shops, restaurants, bars and supermarkets. At the end of the street is downtown cala dor.
Rooms in block 9 have pool and seaview. Be aware that you dont get à room above the entertainment stage!
Food was excellent. We had half board, à bottle of wine cost only 3,5 euro and it was Good too!

“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Stayed at Ferrera Blanca in May half term with my partner, our 2 young children and grandma!
Can't fault the apartments. Nicely renovated, modern with large balconies. The complex is spread over 2 sites, separated by a road. We were in block 16 which is the furthest away from everything but nice and quiet. We would have preferred nearer the beach in block 8 as this is also near the restaurant, the best pools and the best view. Avoid block 12 or 14 if you don't want a view of the entertainment stage.
The staff were very pleasant. The ladies who cleaned the rooms were super efficient.
This was our first time all inclusive and the food was good in the main restaurant. Plenty to choose from. Pizzas in the italian are just about edible - smothered in too many dried herbs! The wine is pretty good and there is plenty of choice of drinks.
The hotel has 3 separate swimming AREAS with 5 pools. The area near the restaurant has 2 pools and is very nice but was not suitable for my children (aged 5 and 7) as the depth was between 1.2m to 1.5m (no shallow end). Probably best for adults who want peace and quiet. Then there is another separate area with a baby dip pool. Too shallow for my children. Unfortunately the pool which was suitable for my children was in the main entertainment area and this was our least favourite area because they played loud music all day, there was a bed and umbrella shortage and all the bins were infested with wasps!
My main problem with this hotel was the lack of umbrellas. There were only a handful of fixed ones which were taken very early in the morning. We considered buying our own umbrella but there were no bases to stick them in anyway. This would be a real problem for babies or people who like a bit of shade (like grandma!)
The kids disco is fine for under 4's and starts at 8.30pm but it was too babyish for my 5 and 7 year old. I enjoyed the bingo at 9pm but the entertainment which starts at 10pm is very poor...but hey it passes the time away!
The beach is right on your doorstep and in my opinion is one of the best in the area, as is Cala Marcal beach. Umbrellas/beds are 12 euros a day. The cafe on the beach is lovely and serves fab ice-cream and coffees.
I was very dissappointed with Cala D'or itself. A sprawling mass of souvenir shops, children's rides and poor restaurants. It really depends on what you like but I much prefer the resort of Puerto Pollensa.
Overall, I was disappointed with this holiday. I would rate this hotel as 3 star, not 4. I have come to the conclusion that I much prefer our usual small, self catering apartments in picturesque resorts, rather than huge, all inclusive complexes in overdeveloped resorts - but I suppose we live and learn!
