We are 2 mums with 5 boys whose ages range from 8 to 14 and Cap de Mar was perfect for us in every way!
Our flight was delayed and it was a nice surprise to find a cold meal waiting for us in our rooms - very thoughtful of the hotel! We were very pleased to find that we had been given rooms next to each other which made our lives easier and that we just about had a sea view - all as I had requested by email before we arrived.
The rooms are wonderfully clean and spacious with loads of storage space, all the fixtures and fittings are modern; flat screen TV, kettle, good sized fridge, efficient Air Con and hairdyer.
The food was delicious and varied every night, the young girl who cooked breakfast and dinner to order was so hard working and always had a smile! Even all our children were happy with the selection of food on offer. Wine was a little pricey with dinner so we took to having a bottle on the beach at the end of the afternoon when it was nice and quiet - the mums' best bit of the day!
We had some very pleasant fellow guests of all nationalities but predominantly German.
I'm a travel agent in the UK so I had done my research on Trip Advisor etc. but I was absolutely delighted with this great little hotel. It is not too big and impersonal, the location just across from the beach and with plenty of shops nearby makes everything so easy and the fact that the hotel operates so efficiently but in a relaxed and friendly way is a credit to Joan and her staff.
I recommend the Spa supermarket opposite who will make up baguettes to order with a drink on their special deal 2.70 euros - great for reasonably priced lunches. If you turn left out of the hotel you come to a pretty harbour where there was usually something going on, and if you turn right it is about 10-15 minutes walk down to the great beach at Cala Millor with lots of shops, bars and restaurants on the way.
We didn't eat in the Pizzeria but the manager was very friendly and the live entertainment was on the whole good. We were a bit disappointed with the lack of fresh juice and milk in the cocktails but the young blonde waiter at the hotel made us some up specially when we mentioned it.
The hotel is great for kids with a small shallow pool for little ones and the bigger pool which also has a chair lift for disabled guests. There are ramps to allow for wheelchair access throughout the hotel. It can get slippery around the pool. There is also pool, snooker and table tennis. Each evening a very cheery young lady did a little routine with the smaller children singing popular songs in several different languages and getting all the little kids dancing and playing games - very sweet to watch!
For anyone who likes to jog there is a great promenade all the way down to Cala Millor. If you turn onto the beach when the prom runs out you can follow the roped path and then the track which leads up to what's left of a Castle overlooking the sea. This is a protected area with lots of tracks popular with joggers and walkers.
With a late flight home we were able to check out at midday, store our cases in a locked luggage room and use the Spa area facilites to shower and get changed.
A thoroughly enjoyable holiday.I will definitely be recommending this hotel to my clients!
