“Hope to return”

We stayed here at the very start of the summer season. Wasn't sure what to expect from the hotel, but was pleasantly suprised by everything it had to offer.

Entertainment every night if you wanted to stay at the hotel and games etc during the day. the pool area was well kept (I still don't understand the logic of people who put towels out before breakfast and never seem to appear at any point during the day, having a different lounger can't possibly ruin your holiday!!).

I heard a few grumbles from people while at dinner about there not being enough choice. Every night of our 10 day stay there were at least 6+ different choices, every single night. I think there may have been 1 dish that was repeated during our stay. There's no pleasing some people.

“Lovely hotel”

We stayed at the Aliciia Hotel last July for 2 weeks. It was our second visit as a family, travelling with a child of 10. Not many children there but that suited us. Rooms are very clean, as is the hotel throughout. Safe for hire, cost 30 euros for the 2 weeks but a small part is refunded when you checkout. Fridges are also for hire but not sure how much as we didnt bother. Hairdryers in rooms - no need to pack one. Air-con works very well. Room deco basic but could do with a bit of a re-vamp. The food in the hotel was ok. Breakfast was excellent - cooked full english, cereals, fruit, anything really. Dinner, however, was disappointing sometimes. You would find something to eat but I think it could be improved. Pool area was to the back of the hotel. Not a very big pool but it did provide a slope to go in, so if you are a bit nervous of water, you could still go in to cool off. What was VERY annoying is that people (usually the older generation) would put towels on the sunbeds first thing in the morning and wouldnt use them until later on in the day, hense, a shortage of beds to use, and you cant blame the germans because only british guests stopped at the hotel! Evening entertainment was average and Chris the Thomson organiser was brilliant. He would ask you to take part, but you wouldnt be put under any pressure. I would recommend this hotel to all ages however there isnt a lot for children there if thats what you are looking for. All the staff are nice and work very hard. Cala Bona is a lovely resort, not too big and it is very flat, no hills etc. Some of the coffee shops on the front were lovely and not too pricey. Would return to this hotel, but does depend on the price - it is going platinum so it depends on the changes.

Room Tip: Most rooms have sea view.

“Excellent Alicia”

We have stayed at the Hotel Alicia on many occasions: it is without doubt one of the best customer experiences that we have ever encountered on our travels. All the staff: Lynsey and the reception team, Juan and Bar team, Julio and the dining team as well as the entertainment, maintenance and cleaning staff are just brilliant. Always couteous, caring and attentive. Ok the hotel is older than most and the facilities may need improving especially the Gym for me, pool could be warmer and the rooms could do with an upgrade. The grounds around the pool are adequate. If you are looking for a hotel in a good location with attentive staff then look no further than the Alicia - you will be looked after.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a sea view top floor!

“Mutltiple Visits to this hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

I'm writing this review as have visited this hotel twice this year and could not recommend higher.

Rooms - are very clean and the treble rooms are very spacious, with a huge veranda overlooking the sea which is a great bonus. Heard some people complaining about the size of double rooms but some friends had a double sea view room and while not as big as the treble room it was big enough to be comfortable, not cramped at all.

The food was great, some members of our party put on more than a few pounds during our weeks stay - all lost now though! 8 of us travelled the second time with all sorts of eaters including a vegetarian and everyone was more than satisfied with every meal. Breakfast is your usual options, cereal fresh fruit yoghurts, toast, full english, cold cuts and fresh bread and fresh made crepes. Every night there was plenty of choice even though it was close to the end of season.

The location is great for sauntering down to the marina in cala bona or along to beaches in cala millor - the beaches are beautiful there. The hotel faces the front promenade, but the entrance is to the rear of this, it would be great if there was a gate to gain access to the promenade - but it is only a few minutes walk round.

The staff are very friendly, from reception, to dining to the bar staff and entertainers and couldn't be more helpful.

The spa facilities are great, with a small indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna for a €5 charge.

The outdoor pool was great in July as is a good size and there are plenty of sunbeds on the sundeck, round the pool and in the garden with a great breeze coming from the beach to keep you cool. Also this hotel differs as you don't need to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve a space - there are some that still do but there is plenty of space to get a sunbed at any time of the day.

Entertainment varied from night to night, the inhouse entertainment staff - or entertainer - it was a one man band thing but the guy Chris has been there for years, and is a refreshing change from the usual thomson team. He knows the area well and is a very nice chap, great with the kids and hosts all sorts of capers throughout the day to keep everyone entertained.

If you want a great, relaxing holiday, to chill out, eat and drink well then the Alicia is the place for you, I know I'll be going back.

Room Tip: Sea view means you will be facing the front, which has great views but also a pool view should be ni...

“A week in the sun!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

As soon as we left the airport in Palma we walked out into a lovely wall of heat and sunshine, very welcome! The bus to the hotel was comfortable and air conditioned. The hotel reception was very good, efficient and had us up to our room in a jiffy. Our room was on the first floor close to the dining room which was great as i am disabled and use a wheelchair much of the time.
The room was very comfortable and quite spacious which surprised me. The bathroom was clean and modern with everything we needed including all the towels we would need for the week. The balcony was huge! and what a view, absolutely glorious.

The staff are friendly, we speak a little spanish which was useful with the maid service (she spoke no english) though we got by just fine. She was lovely actually, very helpful. Talking cleanliness... it is spotless, the cleaning staff do an excellent job. Food was generally good, plenty of it but sometimes i felt the standard of cooking fell a little short. My other critisism is that there was no tea or coffee facilities in our room which for a brit is pretty essential!

I understand the hotel was closing the end of October (we went mid october) for a refurb, they are going platinum next year and im not at all surprised. I would definitely recommend the hotel and will be coming back again for another holiday.

Room Tip: First floor have larger balconies
