When you don't pay very much for a hotel stay, you obviously have a few reservations of what exactly you are going to arrive to, but the Africa Mar is absolutely great.
Location- Two minutes walk from the beach, but just far enough to feel like you can get away from the busy areas. Very popular German holiday resort which was actually a great change for us- my friend and I really didn't want to end up in a typical "England abroad" Spanish resort so it was rather fun to have a lot of German food/language around. Don't worry- you can still get hold of Spanish food (we found a lot of nice places for paella and tapas).
Room- Very good basic room- nice and clean, and a balcony. Not the best view (you could just about see the sea), however, we were on the back-side of the hotel, so had no road or street noise whatsoever. There was a safe which could be rented for your stay but we didn't bother. We were only staying three nights but got new towels and the room cleaned two days, which seems rare compared to some other value resorts I've heard about. Our room didn't have a kitchen area inside, however, just outside our door was a small kitchen area, with a fridge, that we shared with another room. Big bonus to be able to use a fridge, even just to store drinks in and keep them cool, at no extra cost.
Hotel- Nice lobby/bar area. Pool area was very nice, not over-crowded, and the bar staff brought our drinks out to us. All very friendly and helpful.
Overall, a really good hotel. My friend and I wanted a nice cheap holiday away for a bit of sun and relaxation. We weren't looking for an amazing room as we were going to be out all day, but the Africa Mar exceeded our expectations completely, especially for the price we paid.

Writing this review from the bar area at the Africamar. Nice and central, a 2 minute walk will get you to the beach and there's plenty places to eat out on the way.

We pre booked a hire car which meant we could get out and explore the island and there's plenty parking available outside the hotel.

Staff are great, a family run business and nothing is too much trouble. There are bar and snack facilities but we didn't try the restaurant as it was closed (as was much of the resort as it's end of season). There is a Spar shop opposite but I would recommend the one further down the road towards the beach as it's cheaper, more choice and the staff are friendlier!

Most of the resort and surrounding area is full of German's which isn't an issue, but we did find that the restaurants were predominantly Duestch, then Spanish followed by English which was a little difficult to interact at restaurants (even though my Spanish is fairly good!).

This 80 room hotel situated on four floors is the best value hotel we have ever stayed in. Staff are efficient and friendly kindly lending my wife a hairdryer. Sheets, bed covers and towels were changed four times during our week’s stay and the room scrupulously cleaned on each occasion. We went late in the season, middle of October, and at this time of year I would recommend a room overlooking the walkway to the beach as this will get the early morning sun. Stewart and Carmel.

Superb value for money. Probably the most friendly place we have ever stayed, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. The bar prices were very reasonable and the bar staff were brilliant. Our apartment was lovely and clean on arrival and we were given fresh clean towels every other day. The apartment was also cleaned every other day. Wonderful location, couple of mins from beach, shops, bars, restaurants etc. A little bit noisy because of being in such a central position but this was not a bit of a problem to us because we love to soak up the atmosphere and watch the world going by (even though we are a pair of oldies). Lots of different age groups staying there which was also a plus, good mix of young and old together having a good time. The swimming pool was spotless and was cleaned without fail every evening. Great holiday, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and wouldn't hesitate to go back again in the future. Thank you to everyone at the Africamar who helped to make our visit so enjoyable.
