“Family holiday”

We went on all all inclusive deal, which was value for money. The rooms are very basic, the food is okay not great quality but a wide selection so we could always find something to suit. All inclusive guests are second class citizens, our drinks were served in plastic cups even at dinner, the red wine was chilled and wine, beer and soft drinks were self service. The pool was nice, we used the one over the road which opened at 10am, there was always plenty of space. Quite a good location, only a few minutes from the beach. Entertainment awful and intrusive as there is only one bar so you can't get away from it. The children enjoyed being able to help themselves and he atmosphere was very relaxed.

“thought I was in Germany.”

Just come back 19th October, very clean rooms, food was awful though. This hotel caters for the Germans all the staff speak German all the food is aimed at Germans. Swimming pools very nice and also one across the road. Wouldn't recommend all inclusive but drinks are very expensive though. We hired a fridge 3 euros per day an got our drinks from local shops. No entertainment for children apart from one (German) animation team person. if you like to make friends on holiday don't go there I would say 95% of the guests are German. No hairdryer in room but reception did kindly lend me one. Would I go back to Clumba Mar? No but like i said very clean, 2 mins from beach and very quiet so if self catering would be fine. Tranfer took longer than flight over 2 hours!

“will not be returning!”

The only good thing i can say is that the hotel is clean.........rooms are basic..Swimming pool is ok, one across the road is better, although gets shaded. Food is the worst thing....after eating their the 1st night, we gave it another try on the 2nd night, to never return........its the griping of the belly after eating!! breakfast does not get any better, not even a decent cup of tea...but nice bread!! ......lunch is the better of the three (nice bread again), but still to be admired! entertainment is the worst i have ever seen.......majority of ca`n picafort and this hotel are german! and caters for them...good location, for beach and bars.. and is a very nice beach...

“Great value and excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

We've just got back from Clumba Mar and stayed there the last week of September.

Transfer

Similar to most others, our transfer from the airport took 2 hours on arrival, however less than an hour on the way back

Location

Location of this hotel really is perfect. Your 5 mins away from the beach and at the centre of the resort, yet it's really quite so you're not disturbed at all.

Rooms

Rooms were basic but very clean and comfy. Really comfy mattresses, a rain shower and daily housekeeping. Free aircon, nice size balcony, not much more you could need!

Food

Speaking with locals, other guests and reading the reviews, food seems to be one of the biggest complaints. Bearing in mind Clumba Mar is one of the cheapest hotels in the resort, I have to disagree. Whilst not a fussy eater, we were two vegetarians so always a risk going half board! Breakfast was fine, whilst the food wasn't piping hot, there was plenty of selection to fill you up. Juices were a bit rubbish but plenty of fruit instead!

At dinner, there was always a large selection of food, plenty of meat dishes and a selection of veg. There was always a pasta dish with 2 sauces and lots of salads and of course chips! The soups were great and plenty of desserts such as ice creams, fruit, and cakes! One night the chef (noticing we were vegetarians) even made us an extra dish as a surprise, which was very nice of him and gave a personal touch.

Staff

Most staff were great and pleasant. They all seemed to work hard and some looked a bit tired and fed up, but as soon as you showed a bit of appreciation and friendliness, they soon changed their mood.

People

At least 50% of the guests were German and 30% Eastern European so if you've experienced holidays with these guys before you'll know what to expect. Would also explain why some staff were a bit fed up ;) Having said that we met several nice people during our week.

Pool

We only used the pool on site, which was clean, plenty of loungers and not too noisy. The other larger pool was only across the road but there no need to use that one though again it looked nice.

Resort & Beaches

The resort is small with plenty of beachside cafes/bars/restaurants. A few night clubs but we didn't bother with those.

The beach was amazing, and whilst it was busy in parts, all you needed to do was walk along a little further and there was plenty of space.

Overall, considering what we paid (not much), the hotel was very good with no major complaints at all. If you want a quite young couple holiday to relax and spend lots of time on the beach, you can do much worse than this place!

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the pool on a middle floor. You'll then get a good view and it's...

“Book taxi transfer”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

After the transfer from hell on the shuttle bus 33drop offs(the transfer lasted longer than the flight)imagine our horror when we arrived at the hotel Sarah to be told they were over booked but could offer us a transfer to sister hotel Clumba Mar.As incentive they upgraded us to all inclusive and paid for transfer by taxi across town.Reading other reviews this is not an uncommon occurence.
Bonus drinks in resort expensive so saved a fortune, location much better closer to facilities.Pool at caracus ideal as we had toddler with us and we met some lovely couples using facilities with their children.
Disadvantage quality of food,in 14 days my husband never had warm breakfast, heating elements under trays not switched on,poor cuts of meat and limited choice. That said we always found something to eat and ice cream was of good standard.Rooms were adequate and reasonably clean and maids were pleasant.
In common with hotels abroad German guests hogged beds and brollies but as most guests used beach which was only 2 minutes away it didn't become a problem and second week was much quieter when schools went back.
Noisy at night bins were emptied daily at 1:30 am and some noise from surrounding hotels.
Stopped mini disco 9th sept which disappointed some guests who enjoyed participating.Entertainment limited
Has the potential to be a lovely hotel in an excellent location but definitely not 4 star at the moment
That all said weather was exceptional and we had a great 2 weeks as a family break

Room Tip: Book a taxi transfer between 60 and 80 euros each way probably a better deal can be had booking from...
