“Not Bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed here for a week .
We stayed on Half Board base , I guess 95% of the people stayed all inclusive.
Yate is a 3-star hotel . Rooms look a bit old but are ok .
Food (breakfast and evening dinner) was ok , we could always find something we liked.
The swimming pool is rather small , but we did not use it . We are not going on holiday to stay at the pool of a hotel.
There was evening entertainment everyday , but we did not went to it.
Good value for the money you pay . But do not expect a 4-star hotel.

“Booked into Js Cape Colom.was Transfered here to JS Yate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2010

On arrivial to js cape colom after a very tiring journey, we were very disapointed of the location of the hotel ,But with a very nice manager he happended to get us transfered to JsYate Hotel in picafort .
On arrivial we were greeted by friendly staff and the bar manager came and greeted us with a nice refreshing glass of champagne.
the manager himself ferendo was so nice he gave us a very nice clean room ,and located us to a nice sunny side of the hotel.
apart from this we were very disapointed with the guest. all guest were germans and not one word did they speak eanglish. so in all we made no nice friends. sorry no insult to germans or the dutch but you need to lighten up somewhat and make friends . all guest wer over the age of 60 or there abouts. we wer the youngest at the hotel. but apart from this the resort around it gave plenty of nite life for those who wanted it. and the beach just a five minuite walk away.
Lea is the nicest and friendlist girl we came across . she should be awarded staff of the month. so if yate hotel is readin this say a big hi to lea for us the crazy girl as she knew her and her friends say a very big high.
over all the hotel was well kept , clean and bright. but for the food. they need to step up somewhat on there AI programe. i liveed on salad while there as for my sis she was sick every day. could not eat anthing. if you want a lively hotel this is not for you ,but if you want a quite hotel with no entertainment stay away.

“Nice enough but question marks on All Inc”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2009

3 star hotel - air con in room worked pretty well - all rooms appear to be twins. Have to agree with the other review about the beds - rock hard! The hotel staff were very friendly and one of the chefs used to work in Glasgow so has excellent English if anybody has special dietary requirements to ask about.

Food was mixed (mainly I suspect because of the German bias) but if you enjoy continental food there is nothing to fear- dishes were different daily - breakfast was not bad most days - buffet style with fruit, cold meats, cheeses, a choice of boiled eggs (sadly all hard boiled) and normally scrambled or poached. Either bacon, suasage and some very odd additions such as 'fried milk'. The lunches tended to be the best meals and as with dinner normally a choice of four main dishes, chips served at lunch and dinner. The orange juice was terrible - more like Kia Ora than orange juice, coffee was awful too.

The all incusive drinks include a local beer, white, red and rose wine (all not bad at all) and a choice of spirits - non brand name copies but generally tasted ok. Snacks were available outside of meal times but were not too good - normally bread, meats and cheese to make up your own sandwich. No nuts or crisps. At the bar ALL drinks are served by a single barman who although worked his socks off morning noon and night inevitably there was a queue in the evenings. There are no customer facing drinks in the single bar area. However in the restuarant wine and beer was on tap for the customers to help themselves.

Pool area was a little dated and only had a very small child friendly part, the main area of the pool was very deep by todays standards. Entertainment was spectacularly bad so we tended to abuse the drinks and then hit the town late on. Restaurant times were 8-10.30 Breakfast, 1.00-2.30 Lunch and 6.30-8.30 Dinner - which if you like an evening stroll at twilight along the sea front is way to early to finish serving dinner!!!

As most of the other reviews mentioned this hotel is heavily used by Germans - not a problem for me but if you want roast dinner and yorkshires this is not the hotel for you. We were the only English couple staying there according to

Verdict would have to be - no disaster but nothing terribly exciting either

“Brilliant position for the beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2008

My friend and I found the hotel very clean. Just far enough from the Beach and nightlife for a quiet time if required but close enough to be in thick of the resort very quickly. The staff were mostly very helpful - they did all they could to assist us changing rooms when we requested one away from the road.. The bar staff were brilliant though at times there were not enough of them to cope with the queues of guests after meals and in the evening.

We found it was mostly a good hotel to use as a base but would not recommend eating there for every meal. We thought the food was aimed at the German market but were informed in no uncertain terms that the German guests were not impressed either. One lady said she would recommend the hotel if you wanted to lose weight. We were definitely not impressed with the breakfasts and the chefs ideas for main meals had to be seen to be believed!! We would recommend checking the dining room and then going out elsewhere to eat!

The pool area was much too small. We counted only 28 sunbeds for a hotel with approx 180 - 200 guests.

We couldn't fault the staff who made the holiday with the resources they had and we enjoyed our time on the beach and in surrounding eateries.

  • Liked — cleanliness - helpful staff
  • Disliked — terrible food

“Not For The Brits German Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2007

We had requested a hotel in a quiet area suitable for children. We were offered “Hotel Yate” in Ca'n Picafort, on arrival at our room we found it to be small with two single beds pushed together and an extra single bed put in corner next to window for our son. Only to find out that two of the beds had broken wooden slats on them, after trying to complain at reception to no avail we had no choice but to use said beds.

My main complaint about the hotel is was the language barrier in the hotel where it was very obvious after our first hour within the hotel that it was designed for German visitors.

As we only found three staff that spoke little English and that all the menus including the bar menu where in German and the TV channels where also German, which was not very good when trying to entertain a five year old early in the morning or when it was too hot to go outside. With regards entertainment we had requested a hotel suitable for children who this was not as the pool IS very small and there was no other entertainment for children apart from a small climbing frame and slide. Thank fully the beach was only a five minute walk away

I would recommend that unless you speak some German or Spanish and have no children you keep away from this hotel.
