just returned from a 5 night stay at the anba romani hotel and have to say me and my partner really enjoyed our stay there, location was superb food was more than palatable, some really lovely salads and pork and fish which wee cooked in front of you which is a nice touch. this hotel is geared up for german people to be fair as i would say 90% of the guests are german, that said they were no trouble at all and always polite and courtiess, the brit resort is cala bona which is a short walk up the beach and you sort of morf from hearing german to british in the space of 10 mins,i have to say we visited cala bona twice and i did prefer that resort to cala millor even tho the beach at cala bona is not as good as cala millor it has a lovely harbour area with bars and resteraunts dotted around it but in realityit is like being in to resorts in one as they are so close together a bit like magaluf to palma nova, cala millor/bona are so differant to those other two resorts as you did not see any gangs of lads and lasses walking around just families and couples which gave for a really nice atmosphere, a final word for a good night out in cala millor is the rose and crown pub opposite the main entrance to the anba romani hotel a nice bit of entertainment at night ie quiz ,kareoke, open the box for 100 euros and a good laugh with rob the geordie compare who cracks plenty of gags during the evening. we also had a room overlooking the the gorgeous med which was delightful.

“GREAT HOTEL AND HELPFUL STAFF”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

Ignore all the bad reviews about this hotel. The food is good, plenty of choice and lots of it. The hotel is clean, the maids clean your room every day and you see maids cleaning other parts of the hotel all day. We went has an extended family, myself, wife and 2 children and inlaws. We had 2 triple rooms as no family rooms available when booked. We were on the same floor but about 6 rooms apart, so we asked if we could be moved but there was no other rooms available next to each other, but the receptionist Marie Jesus I think she was called was very helpful and found the inlaws a room next to ours on the Sunday (we arrived on the Friday) this was sorted and arranged about 10 mins after we arrived on Friday.

All the reviews stated that the hotel is German, this is true, but the resort of Cala Millor is mostly German, and those people who have rated this hotel bad because of the Germans should have read a bit about the resort as most of the hotels are German.

You do get some very rude Germans but you also get some very polite Germans, they were no ruder than any english people can be.

I don't know how people can say the food was bad, there was nothing wrong with it. Its not 5 star food but the hotel is not 5 star so don't expect it. The food was great when we were they 16/07/10 - 30/07/10. They have a salad bar with cold meats, also have part which was hot food with different meats/fish. They grill fresh fish and meat every night in front of you, there is a dessert and fresh fruit part also.

The location of the hotel is great right on the beach and the beach was great. The pool at the front of the hotel was better for us as the pool in the middle of the hotel was too deep for my 6 & 7 years, and the view from the front pool was great looking at the sea.

Our room balconies overlooked the sea and the rooms were clean.

The resort is very nice

I would stay i this hotel again.

Hope this review helps

“great value for money-excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2010

thought this hotel could do with an updated english review, so here goes. the down sides first;
rooms were very basic, no fridge or kettle. we did not have our toiletries replenished at all in our 2 wk stay, but had brought our own anyway, so no worries there.
air con didn't work for 2 days even though i reported it straight away, no one came up until the 3rd day, and that was only cos i kept nagging them. i confess i hadn't switched it on properly( very embarassing) but i feel that's not the point. it shouldn't have taken 3 days to be told this.indoor pool was fffffrrrrreeeeezing! and the jacuzzi was dirty and didn't work. don't even bother with the dated gym.. this hotel is very dated and in dire need of a make-over as it doesn't feel like a 3 star hotel. this hotel and cala millor are extremely german in population, and while i have no prejudices against them, the ones that we encountered were rude, unfriendly, and obnoxious, though i'm sure they are not atypical of their countrymen?????why come to spain and not try and speak a little spanish? HOWEVER;there are two main positives that make up for the afore mentioned niggles. The staff.my kids 15, and 9 really felt like the staff were friends, especially Mikki the head waiter and paco the grill chef.i found the food to be fine, and certainly had no problem finding things to eat at dinner, though it was a different story at breakfast and for my kids.the outdoor pool and area is clean and well maintained, though my 9 yr old was out of her depth in the shallow end.The location.the beach is minutes away and beautifully sandy.also the hotel is very central for all the shops.
i know it's not to everyone's taste, but we found the sportsmans bar at the end of the main shopping road really family friendly if you want to chill out and have a giggle at the karaoke.if you want a relaxing sun and beach holiday for a bargain price, then you could do a lot worse.all in all we had a good time, the weather was hot, and we made some nice friends, spanish and english alike. we will definately be back to cala milor again.

“The Worst Hotel I Have Ever Stayed At”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2010

if you are English avoid this hotel like a plague,it is full of rude arrogant old German people.the hotel staff are anything but helpful.the rooms are fairly clean and very dated and if you are lucky the air con works. all information in the hotel for trips ect. are written in German. all the entertainment, singers.quiz, and bingo are in German. If you thought schools and hospital food was bad by the standards of this hotel they were 5 star dinning. and i you can find a table you will be lucky, not enough of them for them amount of people staying there.evening meals are served between 6-30 and 8-30 but if you go down for dinner after 8 o'clock you will find hardly any food left,

“Mmmm...ok...dated looking hotel, but friendly staff.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 April 2010

We arrived at the hotel after the hours trip from the airport. On entering the hotel, the general feel of the hotel is that is hasn't been renovated since the eighties, dark wood, orange exterior, and anaglypta wallpaper. The staff are friendly, and explained things well. The rooms are a bit rubbish. Don't expect luxury, there are no tea making facilities, and we only had 6 sachets of shower gel and shampoo (3 of each) which weren't replenished. The towels were laundered but did have unexplained (rust?!) stains on them....chairs and wall lamps were also stained. The pillows are long and thin, which were ok, but some might find them too thin. There is a safe in the rooms, but they cost (i think) 2 Euro a day, plus a 3 Euro deposit. If you have a room in the building where the main reception is, you won't have a full sea view. The second building is closer to the beach, and this also has the dining room and bar in. The pool is quite depressing to look at (we had a room over looking it) and I didn't see that many people use it. The indoor pool is ok, but small and luke warm. Jacuzzi was put on whilst we were in there, but was freezing. The sauna (if you're half board) is free between 10am-2pm, otherwise it's 9 Euro each. The food was ok, but not brilliant. The hotel is geared up more for the Germans, as is the food and entertainment. We did check out the entertainment which consisted of some old dude on a synthesiser....mmmm, not the best. the good thing was, as we had long sleeves on, (all inclusive guests have wristbands on) the barman thought we were all inclusive and gave us enough vodka to hospitalise us. Local booze only though, Jack Daniels, for instance cost 5 Euro. We did visit some of the places mentioned on other reviews, Cheers, Rose & Crown (which is feels like you've stepped back in time to the 80's). Two places we liked were The Sun Deck , and definitely check out Cafe Del Sol, near the Rui hotel, lovely venue, and a 'chilled vibe'. There are lot of Spa shops near by and places selling the usual holiday tat. We went in April so it wasn't terribly busy but it was a bit windy! Oh and watch out for the countless hire bikes/scooters/buggy's etc, even though there is a bike lane, they do have to veer off it in places. If you get a chance, do go to Cala Ratjada for the market, which is on the back streets (go before 12pm) and Porto Christo, really pretty places for a days visit.
