“15 years holiday at hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2010

All the times we have stayed at the Bahia del Este we had nothing but praise for the staff and accomodation for the hotel. The staff are all very friendly and nice and greeted us each year like old friends.. Sadly last year we were told the hotel had been sold to the Germans so we will not be going to that hotel again but are still coming to Cala Millor but at a different hotel but hope to call and see all the friendly staff at the Bahia del Este again. It will seem strange not to stay at the holiday as we have meet a lot of friends both English and German at the hotel. There would not be any point in recommending this hotel as it seems it is going to be fully German quests and not English

“Shame it's gone downhill”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2009

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but if I say that this is based on our experiences holidaying at this hotel for 2 – 3 weeks, each year for the last 17 years perhaps that will give some indication how much we have enjoyed the Bahia. However, this year (2009) things have clearly changed and are set to change even more. If you’re reading this and have never visited the hotel before, you’d probably turn up, enjoy your stay and be none the wiser as to how much better it was. From the beginning, on arrival, proudly flying outside the entrance are 5 flagpoles. Every year they have flown the flags of England, Germany, Spain, France and the EU. representing the diverse nations (but not all) who stayed there. This year all flag poles display the new owners ‘Alltours’- German owned. I wonder what flag will be displayed next year!

The hotel is obviously going through a transformation in the quest for clients, and without it being written down, it is more than obvious that this hotel will be geared for German customers. Having said that, some of the Germans that we’ve met over the years commented on how things have gone downhill (and that says something!!) and they too will not be returning. Didn’t think we’d ever say this but we won’t be going back.

“Down Hill”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2009

We have been to this hotel for the past 12 years, sad I know. But up to this year it has been very good. The hotel it's self is very good but the food lets it down as do the new owners. It is now difficult to book and the food does not represent a four star hotel. If you pay a four star price you expect four star food which it was not. It is a great location and has good facilities so come you German new owners get your act together and provide the quality that is expected.

“Location location location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2009

Just home from our first time at the Bahia del Este and we enjoyed our one week half board stay. Our second time at Cala Millor, a resort we love with such a beautiful beach and friendly Majorcans everywhere. Most locals speak English, German and Spanish very well so there's never any communication problems.

The room was a decent size and facilities were air con, fridge, TV and safe. Nice views from the balcony. Lovely comfortable bed - slept like a log everynight!

Very good shower in bath and also a bidet in bathroom.

4* hotel with good pool area including jacuzzi, aqua aerobic sessions, indoors the covered pool for off season, wellness massage centre, squash court, pool tables, games room, internet access, gymnasium, sauna, crazy golf, table tennis, quiet area to read and small library selection, tv lounge, coffee tables near bar and bar lounge which I might add is a smoking area.
The compere was a German chap called Harry. A very nice fellow but the entertainment he did was very limited however there were some daytime activities. When visiting acts came to the hotel the small stage on the upper sun deck was used instead of the main stage on the lower sun deck, this was unsatisfactory as not everyone could see the shows.

This is a predominently German resort and 80% of Bahia del este guests were German so things are obviously catered towards them more so. I don't really have a problem with that.

The food was nothing to write home about but there was big enough selection so we managed to enjoy the meals enough but it's obvious the All inclusive is hitting the hotels budget for food. Got to say that we enjoyed breakfast tiome the best, very good selections then. If you do fancy eating out then I strongly recommend Italian resteraunt Tomeu in the pedestrian precinct.

The chambermaid Tina, did a marvelllous job everyday and was a friendly lady.
Some resteraunt staff were quite friendly and others not so.
Reception staff did not seem too friendly only doing what it takes to do their job. In the leisure industry a smile goes a long way so cheer up at reception please!
Bar staff and waiters along with harry were the friendliest staff, always cracking jokes and interacting with guests.
The engineer was a friendly chap too as we required his services when the bidet broke and was leaking. The reception staff took 2 days to get my complaint registered which was a disgrace. I was going to complain about this to the Harriet, Thomas Cook rep but she didn't turn up for work that day and when she did she was late. As an orator she was very poor and did not inspire me whatsoever.

The hotel guests mainly comprised older generation and thus was not a hot spot of noise and loud music. Overall we really enjoyed this holiday, Cala Millor is a fanatastic resort. The hotel is in a fabulous location next to the beach and tourist information office, close to alot of shops and bars. Would I come back? Yes definetly.

“Change of ownership, now German owned and All Inclusive - food now poor.”

Having stayed there many times before we thought we knew what to expect, however, the Hotel has now been sold to a German Company and the focus had changed accordingly.
On arrival we were told it is now an 'all inclusive' Hotel which we were offered at a cost of 10 euros a day. The staff were the same pleasant people however the food was far inferior to previous times, I do not expect to be offered Meat Loaf as the main course twice a week and undercooked chicken. The food was no longer labelled in English and the entertainment was in German, bit difficult to take part in quizes and bingo if you cannot understand what is said. The entertainments officer advised us that next year it would be 'Germans only' but we may be able to book over the Internet, this was refuted by our rep.

We and the other returning British guests were all disappointed in what we found this visit.

Very sad to see this happen to our favourite Hotel.
