Just home from our first time at the Bahia del Este and we enjoyed our one week half board stay. Our second time at Cala Millor, a resort we love with such a beautiful beach and friendly Majorcans everywhere. Most locals speak English, German and Spanish very well so there's never any communication problems.
The room was a decent size and facilities were air con, fridge, TV and safe. Nice views from the balcony. Lovely comfortable bed - slept like a log everynight!
Very good shower in bath and also a bidet in bathroom.
4* hotel with good pool area including jacuzzi, aqua aerobic sessions, indoors the covered pool for off season, wellness massage centre, squash court, pool tables, games room, internet access, gymnasium, sauna, crazy golf, table tennis, quiet area to read and small library selection, tv lounge, coffee tables near bar and bar lounge which I might add is a smoking area.
The compere was a German chap called Harry. A very nice fellow but the entertainment he did was very limited however there were some daytime activities. When visiting acts came to the hotel the small stage on the upper sun deck was used instead of the main stage on the lower sun deck, this was unsatisfactory as not everyone could see the shows.
This is a predominently German resort and 80% of Bahia del este guests were German so things are obviously catered towards them more so. I don't really have a problem with that.
The food was nothing to write home about but there was big enough selection so we managed to enjoy the meals enough but it's obvious the All inclusive is hitting the hotels budget for food. Got to say that we enjoyed breakfast tiome the best, very good selections then. If you do fancy eating out then I strongly recommend Italian resteraunt Tomeu in the pedestrian precinct.
The chambermaid Tina, did a marvelllous job everyday and was a friendly lady.
Some resteraunt staff were quite friendly and others not so.
Reception staff did not seem too friendly only doing what it takes to do their job. In the leisure industry a smile goes a long way so cheer up at reception please!
Bar staff and waiters along with harry were the friendliest staff, always cracking jokes and interacting with guests.
The engineer was a friendly chap too as we required his services when the bidet broke and was leaking. The reception staff took 2 days to get my complaint registered which was a disgrace. I was going to complain about this to the Harriet, Thomas Cook rep but she didn't turn up for work that day and when she did she was late. As an orator she was very poor and did not inspire me whatsoever.
The hotel guests mainly comprised older generation and thus was not a hot spot of noise and loud music. Overall we really enjoyed this holiday, Cala Millor is a fanatastic resort. The hotel is in a fabulous location next to the beach and tourist information office, close to alot of shops and bars. Would I come back? Yes definetly.
