“Classic Moorish design in middle of town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2011

Hotel website acurately represents what hotel looks like. Moorish design with marble floors and wood banisters around central patio. My husband thought quite charming. Our room was off the center patio facing a side street. Acutally a it had a Romantic view of the old city. The hotel is in the center of the old city. Pull up next to the door and they will arrange for parking garage nearby . Very nice people running garage. All sites in close walking distance. Use a GPS or follow signs to Hotel or Parador and go from there. Lots of winding one one roads as in all towns of this age. Famous potter near by. Restaurant on the same square quite good. Room comfortable nice. It was hot high 70-s low 80's and airconditioning not turned on yet but cool breeze cooled of room at night.
Pool not open- small. We did not have breakfast here so can't comment.

“Reasonable option if you are staying in Ubeda”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2011

We do have a gps and I did print out the gogle map of Ubeda. But I also asked for driving instructions from the hotel by email - whicc were "follow the yellow hotel signs right to the hotel." We followed the signs and also our gps - but once we got very close to the hotel, our gps decided to "take a break" - and we relied solely on the yellow signs. We missed where we were supposed to turn - as there is not a sign where the final left turn should be. We eventually found the hotel when the gps got it's signal back. If you are following the yellow signs, they are correct up until there is the left turn after the Park de Santa Maria ( main plaza with large church and Ubeda parador). This street ends and you can only turn left - there is a sign that points to the left for Maria de Molina. However, at the end of this street the main road (Calle Real) seems to go to the right, while a smaller one goes left. AT THIS POINT, there should be a lellow sign here pointing to the left (Calle de Jaen Montilla) - because the hotel is down this left turn about 2 blocks. Night clerk spoke no english (day clerk was much better) Hotel lobby nicely restored. Rooms average. A/C was off for the season, room quite stuffy and warm - had to leave windows open much of the night. Surprising amount of car traffic for such a small town late at night - needed earplugs for sleep. Breakfast buffet was reasonable - they even cooked fried eggs for us. Charming town and a reasonable place to stay.

“perfect hotel and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2008

The hotel is right in the beautifull center of Renaissance Ubeda. The hotel itself is an old palacio with a very nice patio. Our room was big and clean and looked over the Plaza Ayuntamiento and had all the comfort we needed.

Although the hotel doesn't have its own restaurant, there is at least one good restaurant on the same square as the hotel is located. Highly recommendable

“Pretty - in an attractive location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2006

Our biggest disappointment with this hotel was that it doesn't have a restaurant and is quite a way from any other restaurants. So it was no surprise that breakfast wasn't great. (I wouldn't have bothered to take it again if we had stayed more than 1 night.) But it is close enough to go and eat at the Parador, without having to pay Parador room prices. And I am sure we could have found a cafe in town, as there were some really interesting tapas bars not far away.

The hotel was not too expensive (we paid £65 a night) and the staff were very helpful. But they had no map to help us find how to get there, even to borrow, so we had to buy one of Ubeda to help locate it. It is definitely in the prettiest part of Ubeda - in the very heart of the historical centre - and it had nice rooms, attractively decorated (very 'branded') and the courtyard was pretty too - shame they don't use this for breakast!

It was quite noisy - because of the roads outside being the access route for the main square of the old part of town. But there are some nice shops around the square giving you a taste of the artistry of the town - I would recommend staying in the old part and not venturing too far into the new and this would be a good stop for one or two nights.

There was a plunge pool on the roof (it was raining when we were there so we didn't try it.) Which was a nice addition to a quite basic, but clean and pleasant B&B hotel.

  • Liked — Attractive - photos on soem sites are a little misleading but in pretty location too
  • Disliked — Lack of restaurant - we didn't book a B&B! It was billed as a hotel - does it really deserve 3 stars?
  • Tips/Secrets — Get a good map or directions before you arrive.
