“This is my second home”

Again a huge thanks to the lovely girls, Roberta and her family. I have spent every Sept the last 10years at this agriturisimo. Alone, with friend or with family. I think that speaks for itself! The calm life in Greve in Chianti, fantastic food and wine from the locals, wine festivals and easy with day- trips around lovely Tuscany....ahh! And then it's the privacy and the Tuscany and homey feeling staying at the agriturismo, is absolutely what I love. There's no place it's possible to relax and at the same time explore like here. This year I brought mum and husband to celebrate both their 60years b'day. They've been at the agriturisimo 5yearsago and have talked about coming back ever since. It happened this year ;o)

“Great apartment and price with beautiful views”

We stayed in the 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment Alexandra for four nights. The apartment was immaculate, well-equipped and large. The views are beautiful from the property. Roberta, the manager, was very helpful. It is conveniently located to many sights including Florence and Sienna and several beautiful hill towns. Greve is a nice small town with everything you need to enjoy your stay.

“can't wait to come and stay again!”

Lovely place, wonderful and most helpful hosts - thank you, Patrizia, thank you, Roberta! Full of Tuscan character and rustic charm, the Agriturismo features a selection of rooms, each having its own distinct feel. Ours was very private, with a large, mysterious and dusky bedroom, which had a tall open-beamed ceiling and a beautiful antique bed, complete with carved wooden angels at corners and a canopy! We love the look and feel of old things, the ambience they create. If you prefer the aluminum-and-plastic sterility of a chain hotel, then, maybe, this Agriturismo is not for you, but if you like to feel connected with the land you visit, its traditions, its tastes and smells, its slower pace, its history and overall romantic and eclectic charm - then come and stay here! Two things to be prepared for, though. A previous reviewer mentioned that a 4x4 car would be preferred to conquer the short gravel section of the road to the Agriturismo. Well - we can proudly testify, that our compact rental Citroen C3 did an excellent job during the entire three weeks of our stay - yes, somewhat bumpy for the last half-a-mile, especially when you lose your breath over the gorgeous view that opens up, but if you respect the road, the ride gets easier every time as you practice! The other thing - with Italy's rather peculiar laws on gas heating, if you are staying between seasons, particularly, make sure to clarify their policy with Roberta, who will explain the details. And don't forget to indulge in the Terre di Melazzano wines you can get right on the premises! During the three weeks, we had a chance to try the entire selection of their wines, in a broad range of vintages and prices - and enjoyed them immensely! All of them are excellent and reasonably priced - from the 2001 Chianti Classico Riserva - dry, rich, complex, with a delicate hint of mirabelle plum and a noble nose of oven-dried porcini mushroom, - to the 5-liter boxed red table wine, just a good, reliable, healthy and happy, no-nonsense every night dinner buddy! And - back to the beauty of the place. As artists who came to Tuscany from over 6000 miles away to paint en plein air, we managed to find plenty of lovely views for thirteen large canvases right at the Localita Melazzano, without traveling too far! We can't wait to come back and stay here again, to continue our creative exploration of Greve's surroundings...

“Beyond our expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2010

We stayed at this villa the first week of October. It was wonderful. This is a working vineyard and is a short distance from the city. Thus a lot of peace
and quiet. The villa is rustic as is nearly all of the rentals in this area. This contributes to the old world charm. All of our needs were met and the rental rates are extremely reasonable for what they offer.

The countryside is beautiful. There are multiple vineyards and olive groves interspaced between many valleys. We rented a car and travelled to many towns including Radda, Ponzano, Sienna, and Florence. I would recommend if you go to Florence it would be better to take the bus. The bus runs every 30 minutes and there is a stop in Greve. Furthermore, the price was between 3 and 4 euros one way. Very reasonable. I think the best way to explore this area is by car since there are many ,many small towns within a short distance.

One of the previous raters complained about the lack of screens on the windows and the wine. I do not think I saw window screens in any building or restaurant we visited. This is a working vineyard and they make their own wine. I can assure you the wine does not taste like acid (prior reviewer) and is very good. Furthermore it is very reasonable (8-10 euros a bottle).

There are multiple vineyards within a short distance of Greve. We visited one vineyard in Greve (Vitticio) which was featured in the September issue of Wine Spectator. Great tour, wonderful wine. Would recommend visiting. About a 10-15 minute ride from Patrizia Falciani.

A prior reviewer complained about Roberta. I think she is wonderful. She speaks excellent English. She was extremely helpful prior to our visit with all of our questions and she was very very helpful during our stay. She recommended two restaurants which I will mention (La Bottega and Gallo Nero). They were probably the two best meals we had during our stay. Excellent food and excellent service. Every time we needed assistance Roberta was willing and able to help us. She also set up the tour of Vitticio. She is extemely knowledgeable and very eager to help. Multiple kudos to her.

We took a bike tour which was one of the highlights of our trip. The tour originates from Florence (their office is there), however since we were staying in Greve we met them at the castle. Andy is one of the owners and is a remarkable person. He has been on two competitive biking teams from two different countries. He speaks excellent English. The tour is very reasonable and lunch is included. The terrain is not that difficult except for a hill near the end of the trip. They are very safety conscious and really pay attention to all the riders not only regarding their ability but also the fatigue factor. If they see a rider having trouble they will encourage them to ride in the van. The van accompanies the tour the entire time. The van tows a trailer so if a rider wants to quit they just load the bikie on the back of the trailer. The name of the company is Tuscany bike tours. I would highly recommend it.

This is probably one of the best vacations we have ever had. It was what we expected: sample the culture, see the small cities, drink wine and eat outstanding food. The people were friendly, the sights fantastic and I cannogtsay enough about the food or wine. There is a co-op in Greve and a large meat market and two bakeries if one wants to cook. We did do that a couple of nights. However the restaurants are very reasonable and the food outstanding.

“Wonderful quiet place in "la bella Toscana"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

If somebody can tell you about the Agriturismo Patrizia Falciani it must be my wife and I, having spent there many marvelous holidays the last couple of years !

Tuscany is one of the most beautiful places in Europe and in the Chianti region you can’t stay anywhere better than at Patrizia’s. The place is fantastic if you want to immerse yourself right in the heart of the Tuscan countryside.

The agriturismo has large, comfortable accommodation, well-kept lawns, and a beautiful pool area to enjoy the magnificent panoramas of the surrounding fields and vineyards. The apartments are spacious and their antique and rustic furnishing feels very welcoming and cosy. We loved sitting outside at night looking over the valley with our prosciutto dish and a bottle of ‘Terre di Melazzano’, Patrizia’s brothers excellent chianti classico wine.

Everything is there to make your holiday as special as it should be, but especially the hospitality of Patrizia and her staff member and able right-hand Roberta is amazing. You can ask her for advice on wine, food, local shops and restaurants, places to visit and things to see: she always gives you loads of good and practical advice, also in well-spoken English with a delightful Italian accent.

A word of caution though: the way from the main road to the farmhouse should be taken rather slowly as it is an unpaved “strada bianca” - still we managed it every time with our little roadster without any problem.

If you are looking for a real Chianti experience, staying in a big restored old farmhouse with views that stretch forever - don't hesitate to book this place. It breathes Tuscany in every inch and you will have good value for your money.

We can definitely recommend Agriturismo Patricia Falciani to anyone looking for a quiet place to relax while exploring “la bella Toscana”.
