“Fantastic hotel to take in Greve”

We only stayed at Albergo del Chianti for one night but it was memorable nonetheless. The staff were helpful and friendly. Our room overlooked the main square which was particularly fantastic given that our stay coincided with Greve's wine festival. The room was small but spotless. I recall being particularly impressed with the bathroom. We really enjoyed taking an afternoon dip in the pool. The hotel's breakfast was very good - probably one of the best that we had during our three week stay in Italy.

“off to a poor start”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Our stay at Albergo del Chianti was off to a poor start when we arrived and were told that our request for twin beds could not be accommodated even though my sister and I had a confirmation for such. We were assured that a twin room would be available for us the next night but, the cavalier attitude of the management really had us looking for other places to stay. Despite the poor beginning, the hotel was clean and comfortable. It was in a good location for our intended sightseeing and I enjoyed the feeling of being in the center - don't miss the bakery next door!

“Relaxing In Greve”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011 via mobile

A wonderful family run hotel right on the main square. Andrea especially and Francesco were very obliging and helpful. Best breakfast we have had so far in Italy. The pool and garden area are great too. Rooms clean and comfortable. The Saturday market, in front of the hotel, with so much produce and other items was a bonus. Wonderful walks, such as up to the Medieval town of Montefioralle.

“Busotti blues”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

Set within easy range of the overcrowded tourist hotspots as Florence and Siena this family run hotel with 20 odd rooms provides an oasis of peace and tranquility in the centre of one of the greatest areas of Tuscany, the Chianti Classico region, aka Gallo Nero country.
The Busotti Brothers, David and Francesco have turned their hotel, located on the central square of Greve-in-Chianti, into a home away from home for all tourists looking for some personal interaction with the locals. The way they approach their customers shows a great capacity for balancing between keeping a respectful distance and getting to know them quite personal. This involves a lot of cameradery once you've allowed them into your inner circle, and more often than not they'll make fun of you, but hey, they can take as much as they give.
As a bonus hotel guests get the lay of the land as no written guide book would provide.
Apart from the thus created atmoshere of being friends on a visit instead of just hotel guests, the hotel itself has everything these hotel guests would expect: fine rooms, good service, copious breakfast (and they'll add to the menu if you so ask), a well kept swimming pool. But the late night chat near the swimming pool with one of the owners, in the company of other guests and helped along by some home made Chinati wine or another night cap (Sambuca!) tops it all.
I'm only afraid that these dersevedly positive comments will attract too many new guests, making it difficult for us to return as much as we want! We've been 5 times already, and we can't wait to get back.

“HIDDEN GEM”

We just spent 5 nights in Albergo del Chianti, a small family run hotel in the heart of the Chianti region within 1 hr. from most towns of interest. Simple, small rooms, w A/C ,none luxurious to my knowledge, but the location, management, and stunning little pool make it a winner all around. Lovely breakfast can be enjoyed indoors or near pool. We left just as the annual Wine Tasting was being set up in the piazza. We enjoyed all that Chianti has to offer without the crowds.

Room Tip: Book early, ask for larger room facing the pool. We were in 204 which was probably the smallest room...
