Set within easy range of the overcrowded tourist hotspots as Florence and Siena this family run hotel with 20 odd rooms provides an oasis of peace and tranquility in the centre of one of the greatest areas of Tuscany, the Chianti Classico region, aka Gallo Nero country.
The Busotti Brothers, David and Francesco have turned their hotel, located on the central square of Greve-in-Chianti, into a home away from home for all tourists looking for some personal interaction with the locals. The way they approach their customers shows a great capacity for balancing between keeping a respectful distance and getting to know them quite personal. This involves a lot of cameradery once you've allowed them into your inner circle, and more often than not they'll make fun of you, but hey, they can take as much as they give.
As a bonus hotel guests get the lay of the land as no written guide book would provide.
Apart from the thus created atmoshere of being friends on a visit instead of just hotel guests, the hotel itself has everything these hotel guests would expect: fine rooms, good service, copious breakfast (and they'll add to the menu if you so ask), a well kept swimming pool. But the late night chat near the swimming pool with one of the owners, in the company of other guests and helped along by some home made Chinati wine or another night cap (Sambuca!) tops it all.
I'm only afraid that these dersevedly positive comments will attract too many new guests, making it difficult for us to return as much as we want! We've been 5 times already, and we can't wait to get back.
