The hotel is located across the street from the Mediterranean Sea. Our room overlooked it, so the view was spectacular. The lobby was very nice, but the rooms really need to be refurbished. The curtains, chairs were stained, the shower needed caulking, and the bedspreads were worn. The location was an easy walk to shopping and restaurants. We were there over Friday and Saturday nights and the cafe next door has a private party on both nights. They were held outdoors, so the music was blasting until 1 am. I dont know if this is a regular occurence so beware. The price was not outrageous. If they would update the place, it has potential to be a four star, just for the location. There isnt much else in the area, so it certainly was adequate.

The Grand Terme in Sciacca was a great stay in Sciacca. We were able to walk to town and the view from our balcony of the Med. Sea was great. The hotel staff were very helpful, breakfast buffet was a nice surprise, but the room could use a little updating. I would stay here again. Walking the streets in Sciacca was like going back in history and then being in modern times with all the great restaurants and designers stores.

Found this hotel after a long day of driving and didn't want to drive any further as it was getting dark. This hotel is need of refreshing. Everything in it is dated and in need of replacing. There was a musty smell in the room. The beds are not comfortable. The bathroom needs to be updated. The hallways are painted unattractive colors. The desk clerk was not very accommodating. The swimming pool was not open even though the desk clerk told us it would be.

I stayed in this hotel for a week in November 2008. I suppose it was 'grandiose' in its time (i.e. the 1970-80's) but now it's a bit run down and not what people like to find - and definitely not four stars anymore. It's still in a fine location with beautiful views of the sea but one wonders how long it's going to be able to stay open. It's big, ugly and in need of repair. The restaurant is cold and austere and the food is not worth mentioning. The buffet breakfast was copious but who wants cream cakes and apple tarts at that time of day? (Breakfast is not an Italian speciality, in any case). The 'terme' were a real let down. They don't tell you they are in a nearby public park full of kids on scooters and that they may not be open when they should be. However the water is warm and sulphureous. It's just a short walk to the town of Sciacca which itself is quite disappointing because of its narrow streets, excessive traffic and lack of tourist amenities. Don't look for any nearby beaches worth going to. There are a few good restaurants down at the port, but not easy to get to and a long walk back up to the hotel.
It's hard to see why tourists would actually want to stay here and it seems that the Sicilians don't really care either way. Would I go back there again? No way, unless I was forced to. It's a pity because Sicily is a nice place but there's room for improvement.
