Stayed five nights here. Room large and clean. Only criticism is that we only had a wardrobe. A draw unit would have been nice to save leaving all our smalls in the suitcase.
Food very good. Did not experience shortages at breakfast as another contributor did. Staff friendly.
The shower cubicle was fine, if you find trouble fitting into it then consider cutting back on the cakes.
The pool was still full of green algae as already stated by another contributor but the sea is just across the road and plenty of people were still swimming in it even in October.
Biscelgie is a quiet town with no tourist facilities so unless you enjoy watching or experiencing Italian life then go elsewhere.

Generally a good hotel, the rooms are big and airy with (little) balconies and lovely sea views. The bathrooms are large - I didn't think the shower was that small unlike other reviewers, I've experienced smaller in Italy! Both the bathroom and the bedroom were very clean, but my bed wasn't that comfortable, it was a bit lumpy. The air con worked well and there was plenty of wardrobe space. Perhaps some of the decoration is a bit dated but it didn't offend me - everything was clean and everything worked!

The breakfast was a bit of a let down - the breakfast room is in the basement and on our second day there were no small tables clean for us to sit at. We had to wait for a member of staff to clear the table, even though it wasn't very busy. There was also no bread and no croissants at all at 9am, we had to ask for things to be topped up.

The staff were perfectly nice and dealt with us efficiently. Overall we were satisfied with our stay, and the hotel is very convenient if arriving late at Bari airport.

We stayed for 5 nights in Hotel Salsello as a start for a 3 week´s trip across Apulia in Sepember 2011. After we had booked by internet rather economically, we were really surprised by the house´s qualities: everything was extremely clean and tidy, the staff friendly and helpful, the breakfirst (not really an asset in italy in general) a real meal with fresh fruits every day! Though the beach in Bisceglie is rocky, the hotel has its own wooden platform right across the road with easy access to the (perfectly clear) sea (but beach chairs are charged separately, with strangely changing rates every day...).
Bisceglie, about 35 km from Bari airport and, e. g., from Castel del Monte, is a good residence for trips into northern Apulia, the historic centre of the city itself (about 2 km from the hotel) worthwhile seeing and with many nice restaurants.
The only thing we did not like was the worn-out, rather old-fashioned furniture of our room - which had, on the other hand, a pleasant view over the garden to the sea. So, in the whole, we were really satisfied with our stay and can recommend Hotel Salsello sincerely.

We chose this hotel because photos showed a lovely swimming pool and a beautiful beach. However, we were disappointed with both.

We were told that the swimming pool was closed. When we found the pool, we discovered a pool full of green algae water that had obviously not been used for several months.

The decked out beachfront was being repaired, there were no sun loungers or parasols as shown on the website. Sunbathing on the rocky beach was uncomfortable.

The room and bathroom were extremely basic, the décor is outdated and the paintwork is in need of refreshing.

The balcony is only big enough for one chair and not all rooms overlook the sea as we were to discover.

The breakfast was basic and limited in choice. But on the last day we asked for a fried egg - the staff were happy to oblige.

We dined at the restaurant on the first night, the food was good and well priced.

On a positive note, the staff were welcoming, courteous and helpful.

The location of this hotel is great, it’s not far from Bari Airport. A pleasant walk along the sea front takes you into the lovely medieval town where there are lots of good restaurants to choose from.

We have compared our stay with other 4 star hotels that we’ve stayed at and would consider this hotel to be fairly rated as a 3 star.

We would not stay here again.
