“Good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

We had a hard time finding a hotel in Alberobello. Le Alcove had one vacancy that was very pricey and smelled of mildew. Another place where I inquired was booked. Finally I stumbled on Sant’Antonio, a former monastery next to a church with a roof consisting of several trulli. It was minimalist and the amenities were simple, even sparse. However the room was spacious, with high ceilings and a linoleum floor. The bath was small but adequate, and there was free wifi. We paid 60 euros including breakfast, which made it easy to do without some of the amenities we’re accustomed to. There’s great shopping in Alberobello. Textiles are especially recommended. We really enjoyed our dinner at L’Arato, in spite of the strange service.

“Once again I love Italy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

Been to Alberobello 3 weeks ago and I still can not stop talking about it. I just love Italy, especially the south. I had some problems with my baggage but as soon as I arrived to Alberobello I forget about everything. Casa Albergo Sant Antonio is very nice place and people who runs it especially Ugo and Ana are so nice, so helpful, without them I would be frustrated and angry. Ugo helped me with telephone calls to find baggage, told us where to go, where to eat,... just great men. Thank You Ugo once again. Hotel is nice, Italians would say: piccolo ma carino. Trullis are beautiful, just had to go there again. Rooms are large and cousy, breakfast is good, and the hotel is in the center of the city, just go out and You are in the center of Trulli. So beautiful.

“Extremely disappointed!”

We visited the Sant'Antonio in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Then, it was a good place to stay and hence our return visits.
Last year, we stayed in another, new hotel in Alberobello (extremely good rate offered) before we got to the Sant'Antonio. We were pleased to see and meet with the previous Manager of the Sant'Antonio now working here.
Last week, we returned to the Sant'Antonio but NEVER AGAIN!
Refurbishment of the reception area means a steep climb of 20+steps (definately not for those with limited mobility) from the front rather than side of the 'hotel'; the air conditioning does not work - very difficult in temperatures of 35C+: breakfast was mediocre, although the lady serving breakfast was pleasant.
The new 'Manager' was rude and charmless.
On a good point - and the only one we could could find - the place is spotlessly clean.
Our visit to this lovely building last week was our last - I cannot recommend the Sant'Antonio any more.

“Not too touristy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2007

We stayed here for 3 nights with our young child.
The rooms were modern, large and clean, the bathroom incl shower was good, unfortunatly an experience rarely repeated in Italian hotels we have stayed in.The breakfast was a typical Italian affair - a little sparse! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the owner had some amazing photos on the walls that he had taken throughout Italy.
The location was fantastic, at the top of the small alleyways containing trullis. Walking distance(100m) to town with many restaurants, cafes etc.
