Its quite a journey from Milan Malpensa but well worth it when you get to see the view from your bedroom window! A huge lake and mountains all around!
I went on a relaxation holiday with mum and sister, we booked a family room which was extremely spacious. Clean and well maintained room, the decor is the usual european resort style but it was all very pleasant and airy (which was needed on the hot weekend that we stayed!) It looks like most of the rooms have a lake view but best check this when booking.
Staff were lovely and courteous, speaking in Italian, Swiss and English, and all very friendly.
The restaurant and bar was also very nice, with great views of the lake. And some nice sitting areas to drink and relax.
The spa was wonderful! Walk into a dark star lit room, enter one of three saunas, a steam room, and various showers (one was a cold tibetan bucket!) The rest were a bit more friendly to the body! Then sip some tea, and lay on a lounger, in a dark room with another star lit ceiling. I fell asleep for some time.
There's not much to do in the area, we took a walk up to the town, had some ice cream and walked back. There was much to see or do there. It's probably good if you hire a car to drive through the hills and mountains.
On a sunny day you must take a pedalo up the lake. It's so much fun! You'll never quite get that feeling again of being surrounded by such huge grassy mountains, on a still lake, pedalling to wherever you like.
It wasn't too busy in May, just out of season. On the plus side it meant that we had some peace and quiet from people in general. However, its a great place for families with children too so you may want to head out in June for the activities.
Overall a great stay, the place and lake itself is not too busy and has wonderful unspoilt views.
