“Simply Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2010

Having had this place recommended to us and read all the reviews on this web site we really hoped this trip was going to be amazing - and it was.

From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were treated like extended family and were exceptionally sad to have to come home.

This is truly a family affair - Anna Maria (mum) works with her eldest daughter, Santa, in the kitchen creating culinary masterpieces - you will never forget their daily-made cakes nor (if you're lucky enough to get them) their "Pezzogna" fish or "Cima" beef.

Nicola and his twin sister, Antonella, will make sure your stay is exactly what you hoped for - Nicola has great knowledge of the food served and the best local wines to accompany it, plus he will happily arrange excursions for you to places like Paestum to see the ruins/visit the museum, or to a buffalo mozzarella farm. It is clearly a pleasure for him to show you his "neighbourhood" and explain its history.

As the title says, simply wonderful. A big thank you to Anna Maria, Nicola, Santa and Antonella for making our stay so special.

“Out in the wilds - great experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

If you want to escape from it all, tucked up in the hills of Paestum, then this is for you.

Set deep in the countryside with magnificent views, the owners offer you a great experience. The rooms are large and well appointed, located in a hidden area of the estate, a short walk away from the main house where breakfast and dinner is served. Having dinner here, is as sitting in your own private holiday home being served by your staff.

The swimming pool is located in another secluded spot. If you prefer to go to the beach, the owners have their own private section of beach front complete with small restaurants (excellent pizza).

“Perfection!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2010

What else can we say! This hotel surpassed all of our hopes and expectations, we had the most fantastic stay. The setting is truly amazing, it is the most relaxing place to be from breakfast until dinner - especially around the beautiful pool. The Gorga family are wonderful and they make you feel completely at home. The food and service are second to none, it is 5 star. We could not recommend this hotel highly enough for a peaceful, relaxing and happy holiday. If we had to find one negative it would be that there are not many nice places nearby if you like to eat elsewhere from your hotel - but with food such as is created at Il Cannito why would you need to go anywhere else?! A big thank you to Anna Maria, Nicola and Santa for making our stay so special.

“Heaven on Earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

We have just come back from the most wonderful trip to Italy, where we stayed at Il Cannito for four nights. My husband took me there as a surprise for my birthday.

Il Cannito is the best place we have stayed in Italy (and we have stayed in a lot of places!!). The Gorga family were so kind and welcoming, and from the moment we arrived to the moment we (sadly) left, we were treated so well.

Il Cannito is a beautiful and magical place that is made even more so by the family.

The family's passion and pride for Il Cannito shines through and is wonderful to see. The rooms are stylish and very comfortable and the views from the terrace and pool are an absolute delight.

Anna Maria's cooking is truly wonderful as are Santa's deserts. Nicola is the most wonderful host, who cannot do enough for you.

We are already planning our next trip back to Il Cannito, which we know will be as fantastic as this one.
