“Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

Il Cannito was hands down the best hotel we stayed at during our trip to Italy. The Gorga family, who own and operate this small and very private boutique property located in the rural countryside near Paestum, made our stay a very memorable one with their warm hospitality and outstanding cooking.

We were particularly appreciative of the impromptu private cooking lesson Mrs. Gorga gave to us in her kitchen!

“This is special!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

This is for couples who just want to get away from it all and completely chill. A stunning restoration of an ancient property set in a national park about 30ks south of Salerno. They only have four rooms - a dining terrace and stunning pool. The rooms are simply furnished but classy, great beds, and with a monsoon shower and an aromatherapy bath. air con could be a bit more powerful but it did the job. The family run the show, Ana marie (mum) in the kitchen with santa and her twin sister antonella is on the admin front, and brother Nicole is your host. Dinner is fabulous, Ana marie is a fantastic cook and we ate there three evenings - seafood soup and pasta - baked bream - local pork sausage with courgettes and chilli potatoes - pumpkin risotto - fried mixed fish - all wonderfull and santa's desserts were waist enhancing!! The wine list is small but Nicole really knows his cellar and the matching to the food was very impressive - Fiano and Greco di Tufo in particular were great and Campania produces some stunning wines! The pool is set on the hill with a mountain backdrop and vista to the coast - it really is special.Service standards are impeccable and great attention to your needs - you actually live in harmony with the family they dont scurry off when you appear, we used their laptop every day and they sit with you and chat -fantastic!! They have access to a private beach. Give it a go - a bit of secluded luxury within an hour of the glitzy Amalfi coast!! 220 euro a night with dinner at about 30 euro and wines around the 20/30 mark - very good value and they deserve much success -we'll be back!!

Room Tip: they're all great

“heaven on earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

there are no words to describe the beauty, comfort, hospitality and serenity of this place. A family run establishment, each one adds special charm and expertise to your experience. Nothing is too much work for them. The food was spectacular! Thank you Ana Marie and Santa! The service is amazing, warm and always willing to help! The rooms are modern, extremely comfortable - especially the beds, which in Italy can be a challenge! The linens were lovely, too! We stayed in two different rooms, and found both to be enchanting. I also loved hearing the braying of the donkeys! Pool is fabulous, with view of Capri in the distance. Heaven on earth...!

Room Tip: all are wonderful

The place is like nothing else. Secluded, beautiful and superbly well-managed. We stayed at Il Cannito for 5 days in the end of July 2011. The service is impeccable, personal and very friendly. The food is fantastic, from start to finish. The location and surroundings are stunning.

“Absolutely amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

We stayed in il canito for a few nights during our honeymoon and I can only say it is the most amazing place we have been to. The views are spectacular, the pool is very nice, rooms a good, but the best thing is definitely the food. It is a family-owned business and that is what makes this place so great. Mother and daughter cook everyday, and you really can't get enough of their food!
Highly recommended!
