We were in Ischia a few days before Easter--before the tourist season had really hit. Everyone in Sant'Angelo seemed to be getting ready for the onslaught. This is definitely the quiet part of the island.
This is a huge hotel but it was nearly empty--I imagine it must be packed in season; they have an entertainment room and a full bar, etc. They graciously gave us an upgrade. Gorgeous sea views from the room. Bed comfy enough (though not a true double/queen) shower small-ish, very good breakfast. The staff is very helpful and kind--from the front desk to the professional waiters.
We chose to eat dinner in town--mostly by ourselves. What people come seem to be day-trippers, there for the spa and then back to the more-populated parts of the island. Don't miss the "spremuta" stand by the buses, btw--the best fresh-squeezed juice I have ever tasted.
The spa is nice--a short walk from the hotel and they provide you with bathrobes and slippers. There are several pools with varying degrees of heat--all the way from "natural" to "Vesuvius." It is seawater heated by the steam underground--not a true hot springs. A very nice way to spend the afternoon.
