After reading a few bad reviews of this hotel, I would have to disagree.
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Hotel Hermitage from 10th August – 17th August 2007 and had a fabulous time. Our holiday to Ischia was wonderful and part of the reason being the Hotel Hermitage. We booked a sea view superior room which was well worth the extra money as the views were spectacular. We had no problem with the Air Conditioning as it worked fine and was much needed. I didn’t think anyone would need to complain about the size of the T.V because if you are staying in Ischia, the views speak for themselves and why would anyone decide to watch T.V!!! The rooms were spotless and cleaned everyday. The main pool was fine, very clean with lots of activity going on throughout the day which you could either partake in or just lie and watch. The restaurant was superb; we were half board and were very pleased with the variety of food on the menu every night. The staff in both the restaurant and pool bar were very friendly and had a good knowledge of English although when you go on holiday isn’t it polite to try and speak their language!
The time of year we went was quite busy as it is the Italian holiday of Ferragusto. This was a big plus point as the hotel put on a special sea food buffet followed by a concert that night and although the singing was all in Italian, we still managed to join in. I would definitely recommend going at that time of year. All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will certainly be returning to the island and this hotel.

The Hotel is in many ways typical of Southern Italy in terms of its lack of focus on maintenance - and of a group of four rooms stayed in by friends, three had problems ranging from televisions that didn't work to part of a shower falling off and room french windows coming off their hinges.
Most staying are on a half board basis and the food was just about acceptable for non-vegetarians - but vegetarians beware...there is often no vegetarian alternative, if one is listed -its omelette!
Some of the staff were a delight but others were rude and inhospitable and there was also a staff theft from a room (most of the items were found in the cleaners cupboard!!).

I would not reccommend this hotel!

I was in the Hermitage Hotel and Park Terme in July 2007.
The places are very nice, but not the hotel Hermitage!
I booked the hotel for a long relaxing week-end but we had some problems.
The room: the air conditioning didn't work very well, mini-bar wasn't stocked. Old room not with 4 * furniture. Our balcony was big and with a nice view.
The two thermal pools weren't thermal, but normal pool and not so clean.
The room smell smoking. When we booked, we asked for a non-smoking room, but this hotel doen't have smoking and not smoking room!
The morning breakfast is absolutely poor! not an english or american breakfast!
What I liked? the view of the castle and of the surronding area.
The hotel is overprice!

Well after reading a review of Hermitage Park Terme from a reviewer who was not of a good opinion of the Hotel, the four of us who had booked to stay for a week were a bit dubious to say the least. We booked from the 17 Sept - 24 Sept. After staying there for a week it became clear that this opinion was nonsense!
These are my/our replies to the review:
The Air conditioning was perfect and much needed. There were two radios one on the wall and the other was part of the TV both worked ok. I agree that the mini bar was not stocked but that was good because we bought our own drinks and kept them cool in the fridge. The TV was of ample size with a wide variation of channels the only English one was CNN news. Our balcony’s were excellent we were on a lower annex down from the main Hotel we had clear views of the castle and surrounding areas. The pools and yes there are three pools one is on the lower floor in the fitness area of the other two one is the main pool which is heated but I agree not too warm and the other is the mineral pool which is not green but a browny colour and was very warm and was great. There were two other water areas, one was a waterfall that released warm spa water onto you as you sat on tiled seats and the other was an elliptical walk through that was on pebbles and was apparently to aid circulation. The shuttle bus to the beach was free and ran at 9.30 and 10.30 in the morning and picked you back up from the hotel beach at 1.00pm and 5.00 pm. The food in the restaurant was excellent and had a wide variety, we were half board so i cannot comment on the price. We all agree that the prices in the bar area were very high and we took to going next door to an excellent bar for a drink which was very well priced and had great value for money. The very friendly reception area spoke English. The waiters spoke enough English to get by (we do not speak any Italian). There are a couple of supermarkets quite close by and an nice walk to the beach area about 10-15 minutes down hill and about 15-20 minutes up hill. I agree there is not a lot to do for kids but as we were four adults this did not bother us nor did it seem to bother people with kids that were at the hotel. I/we would certainly return both to the Island and the Hotel and would recommend people to visit and stay there.
