“comfortable and clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

We were upgraded into a suite, however it didn't seem like much of an upgrade as to a retrograde. This room could seriously do with a makeover, I can't comment beyond that room as we never saw any others. We were close to the pool and had a little outdoor patio which was nice. It was great to have a kitchen in this room however so we could opt to make our own breakfasts. The pool area was very nice, it was just a shame it gets so windy that the umbrellas have to come down so often to keep them in once piece. A lot of people have complained about the walk into town, but I personally enjoyed it. It wasn't that long 15-20 minutes is nothing, it was an easy walk along the beach or boardwalk. There are plenty of great restaurants and as much as it pains me to say I'd had enough of Greek food and opted for Suzanna's a great Italian restaurant - it was extremely popular and I know why, it's definitely worth a look in. I would happily stay here again, but I'd ask for one of the renovated rooms.

“Long but pleasant walk to town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

We were booked into this hotel as part of the Thomas Cook Island Hopping package in September. We had no idea with this package which hotels we were going to be staying at. This hotel had good and bad points. Room was ok, came with a kitchenette, nice to have a fridge. I expect to have some sort of shutters on my windows so that I can keep out the mosquitos but leave in the cool air at night, I have a bedroom window open at home all around the year, so I was disappointed to find that I couldn't do this. Although, in retrospect, I didn't see any mozzies, so possibly not a problem, but I'm paranoid about them, with good reasons which I won't bore you with. Good comfy beds, especially compared to what I've been used to in Greece. There was no where to dry towels or bathers.

Good breakfast which could be eaten by the pool if you like and the greatest proper ginger tomcat who was so friendly that he'd follow us into the room with very little encouragment.

It was however a good half hour walk into town, although there were buses available. It was a pleasant enough walk along a board walk passing several bars and eateries on the way which were right on the beach, our favourite was Flis Flos, a trendy bar with food and friendly staff, sorry wrong review!

Naxos itself is a lovely city and what we saw of the island is lovely too, would definitely go back. Not sure if I'd stay at the Princess again though.

Room Tip: Didn't see any rooms with balconies. Rooms were on two floors: ground and first. First floor r...

“Great hotel great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

First time in Naxos the Princess of Naxos was fantastic! Room was big and very clean with great bathroom. My six year old son really enjoyed the pool and has great memories of our visit to Naxos. George and Vangelis were great hosts picking us up at the port, dropping us in town and always helpful. Although located out of town it was just a pleasant 10 minute walk along the beach into town. Buses picked us up and dropped us right outside of the hotel. Would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Room Tip: Bigger rooms are on the ground floor.

“Nice room but too far from main town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

The rooms were nice and big, with a small balcony. there is a fridge in the room also. Unfortunately I had a room that overlooked the carpark, should have requested an oceanview/pool view room. The pool was nice but as the hotel is pretty much right on the beach it was often very windy when laying by the pool. The breakfast offered didn't have much variety so had to buy breakfast elsewhere, but is similar to many other places in europe. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk on foot from the main town, and about 10 minutes on foot from the main area of st. georges beach. Right in front of the hotel is a windsurfing area, but its not really a swimming beach. There are no lights between the main beach area and the hotel at night - so wouldn't recommend walking alone through there at night. There is also a bus stop right in front of the hotel - handy for getting to the island's beaches. The staff were very friendly and accommodating - they could help with all my questions and even lent me their laptop when I enquired about using a computer. Overall a nice and comfortable hotel but a little too far from the main town for my liking.

Room Tip: ask for a pool view/ ocean view room so you dont end up looking over the car park

“Not good enough....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

We booked a newly furbished room and didn’t get it. The room was very basic and was not worth the money we paid. It’s a good 3 star hotel – no more. No towels provided for the pool/beach, not very friendly staff, location was a little far out and you had to walk through marshland (no lighting at night) to get to the beach or town centre of the island unless you have your own transportation. The walk to the organised beach was short, 5 mins, and the walk to the centre of Naxos was a good 15/20 mins walk. Although in the day, the walk was nice along the beach to get to the centre, we would have preferred a more central hotel – especially at night time.

Breakfast was very basic, sufficient for a 3 star hotel, nice small pool however this was overlooking a busy road which was at times dangerous to walk across. Additionally, we had to wait a good 20 minutes in the heat to get picked up from the ferry to the hotel which wasn’t the best of impressions to make. Our room was ‘sea view’ however I wouldn’t really class a small glimpse of the sea a worthy sea view. Additionally, we had to oddly use the fuse box to turn on and off our air con which the hotel staff thought was ‘normal’. All in all a very basic and OK hotel, would not stay there again as I believe there are better quality hotels for the same amount of money we spent for this.
PS. We would highly recommend the Mexican restaurant called Picasso plus the Italian restaurant called Suzanna?? Also make sure you visit the Temple of Naxos close to sunset – truly amazing and the centre comes alive at night – pretty quiet and relaxed in the day.
Overall, an amazing island however the hotel let us down a little.
