“Medium hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

Very nice location, almost right on agios georgios beach which is beautIful. 10 minutes walk from the town, on the boardwalk which is very nice even at night. Nice pool but no sunbeds, only little chairs around the pool. Nice poolbar, they had a traditional greek band one night. The room was not verry clean, verry small shower, not so clean and no adequate shower curtain so there was water evrywhere. We stayed at astir of naxos also and it is more quiet but better value and very clean. I would go back to astir instead of alkyoni.

“Not disappointed,”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

I had been to Naxos several times before but had never stayed at this location and was very pleased with what I found.

The Alkyoni Hotel is at the far end of St. George's beach which made it very peaceful and as such not surrounded or overlooked by other hotels and apartments which can be the case at the other end of the beach/bay. The location for us was perfect and the walk to and from the town centre of Naxos was about 20 minutes along the beach or up through the town. Not a hardship at all and I was very surprised by some previous comments on here complaining that the hotel was too far away from anything.

The hotel itself was just what we wanted and I would also say that their own website is very accurate and does not mislead at all. The photographs and descriptions more than reflect the reality of the hotel and it's location. The gardens and indeed all the public areas are very well taken care off. Our room (36) on the first floor had 2 balconies one (small) over looking the pool area and the other (larger) has a perfect uninterrupted sea view - great for sunset watching. The breakfasts were more than adequate but I suspect that during the height of the season you probably need to get there early to have the full choice. The pool area was mainly dominated by families with children but that wasn't really a problem for us as we preferred the beach and the sea. The staff were all very helpful and what additional services we used were fine.

Although the hotel does seem to be family orientated there were also plenty of people staying there without children which gave good balance.

“Perfect for a family!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

We took our two teenage daughters and stayed for 7 nights at this perfect, low-key resort. Its location is quiet, right near the beach and within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the center of town. We loved the breakfast and thought the Greek food at the hotel was excellent. The rooms were clean and the grounds were immaculately kept. I would highly recommend this hotel for a family. It’s fabulous!

“good family hotel with good restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

My husband, our 20-year old daughter and I enjoyed our 4-night stay here. Although the room (breakfast included) was average and the bathroom a little small, it included a private patio on the quiet side of the hotel. The hotel's amenities (large, clean pool), good restaurant, bar, 3-minute walk to beach) were very nice. It was a pleasant 20-minute walk along the beach to Chora. Be aware that pool usage allows for babies with no diapers in the main pool and little supervision of children. Otherwise, our daughter loved spending days at the beach and pool while we used our rented car to explore the island. Would definitely recommend this hotel for families. Don't forget to use the free drink vouchers you receive upon arrival.

“Great staff and pool area, but dissapointing rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights on a Greek Island hopping trip. We booked through Fantasy Travel and did not really know much about the place we were staying. I think that their other choice was booked up.

When we arrived we were a little disappointed it was so far away from the main town and in a scrubby looking area, but you can walk 15 min to town if you want or get a scooter.

The front desk staff are very kind, pleasant and helpful, nothing but the best service from them and friendly to chat to.

The pool area is very beautiful and quiet, it was not very crowded in September and although we did not use the pool, we sat near by to use the internet and watch the sunset.

The room is disappointing, it is really basic. Two twin beds pushed together, rock hard mattresses and scratchy carpet-like blankets. Bathroom has a small shower with a plastic curtain that wraps all the way around you. The hair dryer is very strange, the opening that blows air is the size of a golf ball and is awkward.

The restaurant bar plays music starting around 11 and goes pretty late, it's hard to sleep with the music playing and I don't understand how they expect people to be able to get up in the morning with it playing so late.

We advised our travel agent that we were vegan and to make sure that the hotel served fruit for breakfast as most serve bread, meat, cheese and eggs typically. Well there was a little tasteless melon cut up in the morning, but not much and definitely not enough for both of us to eat for breakfast. We ended up walking to town and carrying a bunch of grapes and melons back our selves to eat in the room since we were hungry.

I think you would enjoy the place if you spend most of your time by the pool or at the beach, a lot of guests were doing this, inside the rooms is not the most pleasant. The mattress is making my back numb as I type...
