“I'm in love... With the hotel, the island and the people.”

The brother and sister team, Dimitris and Nikoletta are great hosts and do a superb job of making you feel welcome. The beautiful Marine, who works the front desk is also great at answering any questions about the island. The breakfast is the best I've had from any hotel I've stayed thru out Greece. Nikoletta had the car rental company drop off the car here at the hotel and also made some calls to doctors and pharmacies for me while I signed the paperwork and than the car rental guy walked back. I'm only here for 3 days, but I wish I could stayed longer. I really do love it here.
Thanks for making it a great stay.

“GO, GO, GO!!!!”

The hotel photo should stand next to the term philoxenia (hospitality) in the dictionary! It is the best choice in Naxos, and Nikoletta and Dimitris are the best hosts. Grotta is a relatively small family-run hotel where you can have the best holidays ever. It is located on a hill just 3min by car from the port and 10-15min from the center of the town. The view (from the main building) to the island’s most known monument, “Portara”, is magnificent, especially at sunset. Rooms are not big but are nicely decorated and well maintained. A small pool and clean toilets/showers exist on the basement of the hotel. One of the biggest advantages of the hotel is the breakfast buffet. Almost everything is home made by Nikoletta and her mother using fresh products. Even though I suggest trying everything, don’t miss the banana tarte! Nikoletta and Dimitris take very good care of their guests from the moment they arrive to Naxos. Dimitris can transfer you from and to the port and Nikoletta welcomes you in the hotel in the friendliest way you could expect. Both of them can give you precious advice on things to do and places to visit all around the island. Trust them!! Small things, such as welcome drinks, farewell gifts, beach towels and umbrellas, as well as more important, such as taking good care of you even after check out, make the difference in this hotel. Just a friendly advice from a couple that has already been twice in Grotta and definitely plans to come back: maybe there are some small weaknesses in the reservation and deposit system that should be overcome in order to avoid misunderstandings and secure both yours and your clients’ interests. We promise to see you again in Grotta, keep up the good work.

“Amazing value!”

We couldn’t believe it! For 79 euros: a double room, large private balcony with view of town and harbor, private bath, and biggest, best breakfast we’ve had anywhere. You could easily pay 3 times as much elsewhere for these amenities.
Here’s why Grotta is one of our very favorite hotels:
Location: Right at seashore... you can hear the waves at night. Great view of the Portara, the town and castle, the ships in the harbor, other islands, plus wonderful sunset views. 10-minute walk into town, convenient to dozens of harbor-front restaurants, shopping, and town beach. Quiet at night.
Room: Beautiful room with big balcony and bathroom with tub. Air conditioning and free wifi in room.
Breakfast: Dozens of choices, including many kinds of fresh fruit, many breads, quiches, cakes and pies, etc.
Amenities: Lovely lounge and breakfast room with sea views and outdoor eating areas. 3 computers available for guests’ use. Economical laundry service: 10 euros per bag (Many hotels change 5-10 euros per item!) Free transfer from port or airport, with prior notification. Free welcoming drink, and lots of advice about sights to see and tours. Pool, hot tub, and sunbathing area in lower level.
Owners: The family is exceptionally nice, truly interested in their guests, with a terrific sense of humor, always eager to help. We felt like part of the family immediately!

Room Tip: Room 50 has a big balcony, with view of town, harbor and sunset, large bath, very quiet. Highly reco...

“Another review to say - amazing, wonderful and simply perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

My family (2 adults, 2 young children 6 and 7 years) stayed for three days at Hotel Grotta chosen from the consistently good reviews on trip advisor. We loved every moment, with the owners playing a big part in making you feel welcome and make the most of each day on Naxos.

Our room was large, with four beds and very clean - great value for money as an amazing breakfast is included (delicious home made pastries and quiches in addition to the usual choices). The kids loved the jacuzzi in the evening after some long days exploring the island, which was also made so much easier with the owners helping us out with bus timetables, detailed maps and advice on what best to see.

We loved every moment of our stay, and the kids are still reading their storybook about the Greek gods, a surprise gift from the owners at the end of our stay. Certainly the perfect end to one of best family holidays here.

“Second time visit. Won't be the last.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

This is the second time we have stayed at this wonderful hotel and we couldn't be more satisfied. The owners go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. Because we were second time guests we got an extra helping of fussing over us! The rooms are comfortable and well equipped and the breakfasts are unbelievable. About six kinds of homemade cakes and pies, as well as the usual eggs, cheese, meats, breads, and fruit. The price is unbelievabley reasonable. We actually find the walk to town one of the features of the hotel, as you get lovely views on the way down. The only thing that might stop us from coming back to this hotel is that we have so fallen in love with the island we're thinking of buying our own place -- but then we'll be recommending it to all our friends!

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have sea views and some don't -- we've enjoyed staying in both, but if you...
