“Surly and devious owner even if location is great !”

Warning: Dimitri, the owner, is a surly and unreliable hotelier. I stayed there many times over the years when his father ran the business. I shall never stay there again. I wrote a longer review but it was not accepted. I am a traveler and not a competitor trying to stain the reputation of another. It shocked me as to his rudeness and deviousness then tripadvisor didn't take my comments.
How strange! Can one only say nice things when there was a very bad experience?

Room Tip: Do not stay there. Your room make reek of mold.

Dear tripadvisor I send you this e-mail because a client’s review on your web site.

My name is DIMITRIOS SIDERIS and I am owner of the HOTEL ANIXIS since 1990. My father started this business since 1975. This mean that every year we accommodate 1000 clients without problems as you can also read other client reviews on your web site.

I had a reservation for a single room from Sunday 5 June to Sunday 12 June 2011. The reservation was made by a lady, who claimed she was an old client.
Because she was an old client I went to the port at 24:00 to help her helping with her had bags. I also offered to her a double room instead of a single room where she reserved at the price of the single room and I had the feeling that she is going to be happy with this offer.

On Monday morning she came to the reception and she complained that she had hearth problems ( asthma ), so she did not slept well in the room.
We offered immediately to her another double room that renovated on 2011 with 10 sq. meters sunny balcony with sea view.

On Tuesday morning she came to the reception and she asked to me to have another room facing to our garden, because she liked to work and have garden and sea view.
We were happy to change her room and we offered to her the room she requested, ie., a room with both garden and sea view.

On Wednesday morning she came at to reception and she asked to me to return to the first room because the free Wi-Fi had not so strong signal inside the room compared to the balcony.
I apologized and I informed her that her first room was occupied and there is no an other room free to move.

On Thursday morning she phoned to me from the town to let me know that she were going to leave one day earlier due to ferry schedules. I told her that there was no any problem at all.

On Friday night 23:50 she came to the reception to check out. I issued the receipt, but she did not agree to pay the first night because she did not sleep well. I accepted it and I told her that there is no problem. After that she thought that she stay only 4 days at our hotel instead of 6 days and she started shouting at 24.00 in the night, disrupting other visitors.
As a result of that, I informed her that I was not going to accept any payment, because she was not happy in the hotel after 6 days and we did not want our visitors be unhappy. In other words, her stay in our hotel was offered to her a for free. She went to her room and next morning she left.

She accommodated in the hotel for 6 days and because she was not happy with her stay, I did not charged anything at all, that occurs expenses plus the taxes from our side and at the end she accused me, and all the hotel. If she were not happy she could leave the hotel after the first day and also she would not ask to return to the same room, that already tried and she could not stay due to health problems.

I would kindly ask you to remove this review because it is unacceptable for me personal and for the hotel. She is accused me personal and the hotel. I accepted all her demands and desires, I did not accept any payment for a 6-day stay and at the end she going to make personal and economic damage to our family business.

Yours sincerely

DIMITRIOS SIDERIS

“A winner !”

Hotel Anixis is set in a colourful refreshing garden at the base of the Venetian Castro, close to restaurants, the ferry and bus station. Our room had a great view over the harbour. The shared balcony was adjacent but we were not disturbed by the noise nor did we feel crowded. The room itself was comfortable, it had all the necessary features including fridge, wifi, personal safe and an adequate bathroom with plenty of hot water. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is great value for money, a wonderful place to base yourself in Naxos.

“Hidden gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2010

Stayed for one week at Anixis
Trip adviser suggested the hotel was difficult to find, as we were arriving late at night we emailed the hotel to ask for directions Dimitris the owner said he would pick us up at the port. and true to his word he was waiting for us when we arrived. The room was basic Greek but very clean and comfortable with fridge. air conditioning and safe all included.
The breakfast was again basic and very Greek but plentiful. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to people with walking difficulties,But if your resonably fit it is in a good location with a wonderful view out to sea, and not far from shops and restaurants.

“Nowhere nicer to stay in Naxos town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2010

Naxox old town is a warren of quaint narrow passages with nothing much resembling a modern road and it can feel a bit stifling. Hotel Anixis, perched at the top of the hill close to the old castle is like a breath of fresh air with it's terrace breakfast area overlooking the whole town and the sea. Our room had views both down to the sea, with the impressive 2600 year old temple gate ( looking like a portal from a science fiction film ) and the steep sided hills along the coast.

We were met at the port by Dimitri, the owner, who spoke good english, he had to drive some distance round the back of the town to get to the back of the hotel, another guest arriving on the same ferry as us chose to walk and arrived first. Once you know the way, it is only a few minutes walk up through the little lanes from the sea front. As you navigate the passages, Dinitri has thoughtfully discretely stencilled directions on the pavement in places where you might otherwise get confused, they are not intrusive and you need to look carefully but after a tiring day and few glasses in the town they are very welcome.

We had only intended to stay a couple of nights but it was such a great place and the island had so much to offer that we ended up staying for 6 nights. Everything was clean and fresh without being clinical (as modern hotels are inclined to be). The pictures on their web site don't really do it justice, for instance as you walk in through the densely packed little flower garden in the evening, the smell of the night scented flowers is just delightful. Fantastic value in a place where a meal for two or a few cocktails may well cost more than the room at this hotel, friendly family atmosphere, all the guests of all nationalities seemed so happy to be there, we can't praise it highly enough. It even had wi-fi and good air-con, no room in the old town for a pool but with the sea only a few minutes away who cares.

“Great Location. Excellent value.”

We arrived at Naxos at midnight and did not want to worry about finding the hotel so we arranged a pick up. If we did not arrange a pick up I will admit we would definately have had a hard time finding the place. We stayed for 4 nights and loved every minute of our stay in Naxos and in Hotel Anixis. The hotel was extremnly clean. Our room had a balcony overlooking the ocean, we would sleep with the doors open and wake up to a stunning view. We had room 6 which was right under the communal area used for breakfast. I believe this room produces the greatest view. The location is great being right in the old area, however still close to everything. The area is extremnly quiet at night. We used public transit to get to all th beaches and found this to be quite easy. The hotel staff were great, however I did not find them overly friendly, which was fine with me. Overall, I would recommend Hotel Anixis and would not hesitate to stay in Naxos Chora even if my intentions are to go to the beaches. Naxos is definately worth a visit.
