We have returned to this gem of a hotel on numerous occasions. It is an oasis of calm and quiet in the labyrinth of alleyways in the Venetian old town. It is not only an ideal place to recharge one's batteries but also a base from which to explore the beautiful island. We have always found the staff to be helpful and unobtrusive. The lively waterfront and restaurants are only a few minutes away or if you are looking for history and culture then the castle with its museums and nightly concerts (classical and folk) is only a short stroll in the other direction. Last year we spent a pleasant morning learning about the history, flora and fauna on a trip with Dimitris. He is a font of knowledge and is only too pleased to act as your guide on his time off from duties in the hotel. (His telephone no. is 0030 6945 470720). Needless to say we are returning to Naxos again this year.

I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. A perfect location and easy walk to the harbor, the bus stop, restaurants, etc. and to the winding streets of the old city. Location aside, we love the charm of the place, the silence at night when sometimes the only noise is the wind from the harbor and the occasional lost tourist. I also and most importantly love the staff, particularly Athena, the housekeeper. Besides her dynamite coffee, I appreciate her professionalism and her patient attempts at teaching me several words in Greek which I seemed to promptly forget. This place feels like home...a loving, peaceful, orderly place. Leaving it always breaks my heart!

What a charmer! We loved this old place. Our suite was simply decorated with Naxian lace and locally made hand-carved furnishings. Deliciously cool marble floors, and lush plantings in all the common areas (including a fig tree growing that reaches all the way to the third story of the open-air atrium). We enjoyed views of the sea and the temple (lit up at night). Very quiet at night, despite proximity to all the intense nightlife scene on the water.

Location
In the heart of Naxos Old Town, minutes away from the museums, shpps & restaurants and the harbour. Steep steps on the way up from the harbour.

Staff/reception
The staff we met didn't speak much English but then I don't speak much Greek so we were quits! Everyone was pleasant & welcoming.

Rooms
Sea-facing rooms are on the small side; rear facing slightly larger. Nicely furnished with traditional furniture and very clean & quiet. I didn't notice whether there was a phone or not but all other equipment appeared to be in full working order.
View from our sea-facing room was cluttered with aerials during the day but after dark all you could see was the illuminated doorway of the Temple of Apollo - quite stunning.

Public areas
Pleasant roof terrace. Open central courtyard/lightwell with tree is a lovely feature.

Food & Drink
No drinks making facilities or fridge provided. Breakfast simple but good quality and plenty of it - boiled eggs, bread, jam, Greek yoghurt, fruit etc.

General
As a hotel we booked into on spec, having found ourselves able to travel to Naxos at the last minute, the Zevgoli was entirely satisfactory. Central location was particularly useful. Due to a cancelled ferry, we then had to book back in & had no hesitation about doing so. My partner found the combination of small rooms/no balcony to be opressive so we would definitely review other options if returning to Naxos but wouldn't rule the Zevgoli out.
