“Convenient location, clean rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2007

We stayed two nights at the Apollon. It is a few minutes walk to all the shopping, the Old Market, many many restaurants and ameneties, the port., buses, etc. Included in the cost was a traditonal breakfast which we found very sustaining (boiled egg, yogurt, fresh bread, delicious jam, juice, tea/coffee). We stayed in room 202 which was rather large for a european hotel. It was very clean and we had no complaints. Because of the location, we were able to easily buy bus tickets and catch buses to mountain villages and the beaches. We were also able to attend a wonderful out door concert at the Venetian museum, have a late dinner and then walk the 5 minutes back to the hotel. This is not a luxury hotel but we felt very safe and it was certainly very convenient.

“Nice place, quiet area, good location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2007

Stayed two nights. Location is nice - in the Bourgos area, relatively quiet at night, with some activity during the day from local people going about their business, nothing like the crowded tourist-heavy seafront area. Spacious room, satellite TV, big wrap-around balconies in some rooms with mostly town views (and a glance at the sea from the side), Naxian-style furniture (somewhat dark-colored, sort of Italian 'Venetian' feel), comfortable bed, small but decent bathroom & shower (although, like most showers in Greece, floor tends to get soaked all throughout when taking a shower, so need to wipe yourself or deal with wet feet in middle of night when using bathroom). Was there on off-season (early May) so very few guests, but front desk staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast good - boiled egg, plate of yoghurt, coffee, juice, excellent local honey, fresh bread the owner went out and got for me the morning I arrived. A good choice if you don't care about having a direct seaview (which you can have at a beachside hotel if that is the priority). Good location to explore the town, catch ferries (port is 5 minutes away) and various supermarkets, pharmacies, etc. all within a short walk. Doors have pneumatic spring-loaded mechanisms on the inside to prevent them from slamming when closed - a very nice touch, wish all hotels had this! Worst thing about hotel stays is the guest who comes back at 12am and lets the door SLAM shut, not having consideration to at least close it quietly for guests already back and sleeping! This hotel avoids that problem cleverly. Would stay again.

  • Liked — Location, quiet atmosphere at night, breakfast
  • Disliked — Not really sea views directly from balcony, but not expected

“Great Naxos Hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2006

We had a great experience at the Apollon. The location was ideal - a short walk from the ferry dock and the center of Naxos town, but on a quiet street. Our second-floor room had a large balcony with views of both the sea and the beautiful orthodox church. The staff was extremely kind and helpful, and the complimentary breakfast was EXCELLENT! Would recommend this place to anyone.

“Great Tourist Hotel for a Great Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2005

My Wife and I stayed here for 4 nights while on a 14 day Island Hopping tour of the Greek Islands. We read about the Hotel in some tour guide books and were very happy with it. Rooms were reasonable sized with balcony overlooking the church next door, TV and AC etc included as expected. Bathroom clean and completely functional etc not spacious but everything you need. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the dock and the main shopping/restaurant area - so keep that in mind if you have heavy luggage. Staff were friendly and attentive, breakfast was just what we needed - fresh bread, Coffee, yogurt, boiled egg, juice - nothing special but excellent all the same.

In all it was everything we needed at a good price, plus clean, good location, nice staff - recommended.

“Middle of the road”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2005

This hotel is a short walk (max 10 minutes with luggage) from the port. Our room was clean and had all the facilities you would expect from a mid-range place (a/c, TV, fridge and phone in room). Maybe it was a little small, but otherwise it was fine.

We thought the breakfast was reasonable - the Greeks tend to eat a light breakfast, and their yoghurt with honey was the best of our entire trip.

Finally - don't be fooled by the description of room with sea view. Our sea view was 'oblique' at best.
